I believe in persistence. With persistence, no matter how difficult a task is, I may fail multiple times; nevertheless, I will eventually laugh to the end. Sitting on my father’s lap at the age of five and a half, I watched YouTube videos inculcating the intrinsics of the the "Go"game, and then started practicing myself. Couple weeks later, my father found a local entry level class for me. Four months later, I started attending tournaments. Playing the "Go"game, one player takes one black stone and the other takes one white stone to consecutively place on the square board – which consists of three hundred and sixty-one intersections. While progressing in the "Go" tournaments, I have encountered many setbacks. In the annual Redmond Cup preliminaries last year, I lost to two stronger players to begin with. Consequently, my position plummeted. However, I persisted and swiftly clobbered the final three opponents. Therefore, I won the right to play in the finals. Furthermore, in a local tournament, I heavily lost the first round, then lost the second round merely. Frustrated, I attempted to calm down. Then, in the last two rounds, I triumphed my opponents. Usually, I log each step with paper and pencil through each face-to-face tournament match for review later, no matter win or lose. I learn from amateur and professional coaches intermittently, despite my heavy schoolwork. Moreover, I always learn from "Go" books, solve exercises on websites, and play "Go" game online with anonymous players persistently and continuously. In addition, I have been attending local "Go" tournaments. On the other hand, I occasionally revisit Taiwan for the "Go" tournaments there. Attending the "Go" tournaments for years, I have been gradually advancing to a higher and higher rank, and accumulating stronger and stronger confidence. Therefore, I was selected to represent U.S. for the World Youth Go Championship in Tokyo, Japan last year.
