The Odyssey is about a man named Odysseus and his journey back home on his way back he faces many hardships. Modern soldiers also face hardships like Odysseus did.Which makes Odysseus' journey a direct metaphor to many soldiers experience returning home. Many soldiers come back to their children who have seemed to grow up without them as Odysseus was with his son Telamachus. When Odysseus left his son he was just a baby but when he returned his son was 20 years old. Normally veterans aren’t gone for twenty years but normally get breaks but they still can’t be there to see their child grow up.
