The site of Odellington is a suburb located in eastern New Jersey. The town has a population of around 16,000 and is mostly residential, but has patches of manufacturing, retail, and transportation hubs. Odellington is on top of a slight hill which results in runoff during heavy storms. This also leads to flooding in the south region of Odellington. Odellington has a diverse community, including White, African American, Asian, and Hispanic or Latino people. First and foremost, the data on Graph 1 reveals a negative correlation. Interestingly, the higher the percentage of groundwater contamination, the shorter the lifespan of a plant. This reveals a negative correlation showing that plants die faster if the concentration of groundwater pollution is higher. Also, the scatter plot points go in a downward direction which also supports the conclusion that the higher the percentage of pollution, the shorter the lifespan of the plant. As predicted, the higher the concentration of groundwater pollution, the higher the number of reported mutations and disease cases over the last 10 years was. To add on, the plot points move in an upward direction, which supports my conclusion. In addition, when I conducted my linear regression test on Graph 2, the line moved in an upward direction which reveals a positive correlation. This proves that the higher the groundwater pollution, the higher the number of reported mutations and disease cases will be. Consequently, the correlation coefficient of the graph was 0.99, which is a very strong correlation since it is only 0.01 away from 1.
