Abstract
The idea of creating a nurse residency program developed through communication with my fellow new graduate nurses with less than one year of experience in our facility and through personal observation. The goal of creating the residency program is to help new nurses to transition from school to practicing. The affected population would be made up of all nurses on the unit and the patients that interact with the new graduates. The background of the problem is the lack of confidence possessed by new nurses and high turnover rates with those nurses.
