There have been many cases in Fresno, CA where people are dying because of a driving under intoxicated (DUI) accident. People who drive drunk not only put their own lives in danger; they also put other drivers including passengers and pedestrian in danger as well. Lawmakers must not allow any DUI cases a second chance at all. Every citizen could save more lives by avoiding any dangerous and deadly accidents that a DUI defendant can cause. A person that are under the influence of alcohol or anything else that impairs the mind and body shouldn’t operate any vehicle at all. No matter what makes them want to drive while intoxicated is the reason why people gets citations and or can lead to an accident. That is why those people must not be allowed a second chance to operate a vehicle. In order to do that, law makers could be stricter; they ought to fine them heavily the very first time. After the government takes all their hard earned money for fines and fees because of the trouble they have caused, hopefully they will learn a lesson and won’t like it and probably will not want to ever do it again. Maybe this will open up their eyes to see how important it is not to drink and drive because the consequences are not good. If defendants wish to operate a vehicle again, they need to be fined heavily the first time along with going to jail, license revoke and a DUI meeting. Perhaps this will help defendants think twice before trying to drive drunk. Or if they must they should have a designated driver or utilize the pickup service, where anyone can call for a driver to pick or drop them off anywhere. If we all agree to be stricter in this area of laws we might even help save more lives than we think. And positively more and more people can respect and honor the law instead of breaking it.
