Father of Alternating Current and AC induction motors, Nikola Tesla is known best for the high voltage generator that bears his name- the Tesla Coil. But this limited recognition hardly does justice to his legacy as an inventor. His name should be placed besides Thomas Edison, perhaps his biggest rival, for his contributions to electronics. But while electromagnetism was Tesla's primary focus during his life, the scope of his work and ideas were not so limited. He had many strange inventions and discoveries, many of which where not realized because of his opponents or for personal reasons. Others, as we will see, were simply too far-fetched or ambitious.
But much of that story's been told before, just as it has been for countless other great scientists and inventors. Here I hope to focus more on the nature of the man that gives birth to the idea of a global night-light or a mail tube beneath the Atlantic, and the other radical ideas that such a mind could create.
It's difficult to say why some of the more abnormal, and perhaps more interesting, details of history are forgotten or conveniently left out. Perhaps for simplicity, or perhaps to make history look more noble and admirable. Personally, I believe it's similar to people trying to forget their mistakes and the times they were "less than bright," in order to create an exaggerated image of themselves. Nikola Tesla is a man that many individuals associate with brilliance. Moreover, Tesla is a name that ignites impulses within an individual’s brain which illuminate, via bio-circuitry, the thought association of Tesla and brilliance, similar to the force we term as electricity. Brilliance however, shouldn’t be the only descriptive word to come to mind when thinking of one of the greatest engineers and inventors to live. Innovation and determination should be undoubtedly included in the list of descriptive words of Mr. Nikola Tesla. For without the innovative mind of Tesla, midcentury inventions as well as current technological advances would be nonexistent, or worse, credited to Thomas Edison.

He was born on July 10, 1856 in Smiljan, Austrian Empire which is presently known as Croatia. His father was named Milutin Tesla and was an Orthodox Priest. While his mother, Duka Tesla, was good in making home mechanical appliances, craft tools and has the skill to memorize Serbian poems.

As James Levine is famous for saying, “I was lucky that I met the right mentors and teachers at the right moment.” To me, one of the greatest mentors of innovative scientific history was Nikola Tesla. That being said, if given the opportunity to spend the next year of my life in a different time period I would like to live during the year 1942 so I could work beside Tesla. This was the year before Tesla died, a time when he had experienced the full scope of his expertise and could impart that wisdom to me. My questions about his popularity would be answered in full. Nikola Tesla was a Serbian American inventor, electrical engineer, mechanical engineer and physicist. He was also considered an eccentric genius and recluse. Tesla is best known for his feud with Thomas Edison over AC power Versus DC Power. He was also well known for inventing the Tesla Coil which is still used in radio technology today. Nikola Tesla was mostly forgotten until the 1990’s when there was a resurgence of interest in popular culture.
While at Graz Technical University, Tesla had seen a demonstration of a generator run as a direct-current (DC) motor. Direct current is electric current that flows in only one direction. During the demonstration, the brushes and the commutator of the motor sparked violently. The brushes are devices that conduct the current in a DC motor. The commutator continually reverses the current so that the motor continues to rotate in one direction. Tesla believed a motor without a commutator could be devised. In 1881, while walking in a park, Tesla suddenly got an idea for a simple way to produce such a device. In 1883, while on assignment for Continental Edison in Strasbourg, France, Tesla used his spare time to build his first polyphase (out-of-step) AC motor. In such a motor, coils are arranged so that when out-of-step alternating currents energize them, the resulting magnetic field rotates at a predetermined speed.
In the late 1800s two paths collided. Thomas Edison and Nikola Tesla were both very interested in the application of electricity to modern life. The Tesla coil was made by Nikola Tesla in 1891. Tesla was a scientist that believed the ground and Earth were better conductors than metals. Therefore, he created the Tesla Coil which was a device that could send electricity to appliances without cords or wires. This device was able to power lights or other things that required electricity from several feet away. The Tesla coil looks like a mushroom with a metal top and copper wire coiled around the center of it. A Tesla Coil if tweaked can make electrical currents go through your body, make electron winds, or shoot lightning bolts. Altogether the Coil was made so the world wouldn't have wires everywhere. Imagine a world with no wires, there wouldn’t be things you could trip over and no telephone
However, that’s not the only thing about Nikola Tesla, with the knowledge he has he also was an inventor as well he used algebra equations to plan out his blue prints and create his inventions he would always have those Ideas and then right them down then he would begin to execute the plans and with his success he found out how to use electricity to have free energy however that wasn’t his first invention that was one of the best. Because he planned to give free energy to the public so he basically had good intentions with it. ‘’But that wasn’t it he also helped Thomas Edison
If I could meet a historical figure I would want to meet Nikola Tesla. He was a man that was criticized and taken advantage of so others could make money. He didn’t let people dictate what he studied or invented. A man that knew what he wanted and did what was necessary to get it done. That included giving money away, having a relationship, and going against others in his field. He thought outside the box and was ahead of his time.
In conclusion Mr. Thomas Edison was a great inventor which enhances my everyday life with his unbelievable inventions. If Thomas Edison never invented the lightbulb who knows what the world would be like today. I think that Thomas Alva Edison was a great inspiration and inventor to many people today.
Nikola tesla was a brilliant scientist and researcher, eager to discover new things. He was unwilling to accept that something could not be done, and his career was filled with examples of his discoveries that did just that.
