How Google Affects People Nicholas Carr argues that the more a person uses the Internet or spends time online, the more it will affect that person’s mind and that corresponds with his or her ability to stay focused; in fact, there is research and experience from others to prove that Carr's argument is correct.
In Carr’s article, “Is Google Making Us Stupid?”, he asserts anxiously how the Internet negatively influences a person's ability to concentrate. Carr’s mind is changing due to spending a lot of time searching the Internet and the result is he cannot think the way he used to think. This issue is the same for Carr’s friends and family. People’s minds become used to Internet media so traditional media has to evolve for the audience’s expectations since the Internet media is more advanced. Google is beneficial for people, but it is not beneficial for their brain because he or she will have to try harder to stay focused. I want to check my social media accounts even if there are no notifications on the phone. I realised that I have been spending more time on Internet recently and now I cannot stay focused on my task like I was able to before. When I do not know how to repair an item, need instructions for installation of something, or need information on something I just search it up on Google and I get the results right away. Many people use Google because it is their best resource that will direct them to the best results for the answer. Traditional media is evolving because television programs have captions or an interpreter at the bottom of the screen for people with a hearing problem.
