Many Academics have proclaimed the bias images newspapers in Europe publish concerning the Islam. Therefore a lot of research has been done to find the origins of this distorted portrayal of the Islamic culture and religion and if those newspaper articles have further influence on their audience and their fear even hate for Islam. The following five sources have done further research by analysing how newspapers both Tabloids and Broadsheets use negative associated formulations to describe Islam as well as how news about Muslims have increased and why. Furthermore they give different solutions on how to avoid a biased view of Islam in the newspaper. However they missed a key aspect by doing their research: integrating Muslims themselves. Therefore it is important to consider the reason why and especially when negative media of Islam increased, speaking of the events of 9/11 in New York and the seventh of July 2005 in London (Moore, Mason, Lewis, 2008, p. 3, p. 10). Another important factor is how phrasing and terminology is used. Not only Moore, Mason and Lewis established the all too often the usage of words as fundamentalist, militant or fanatical (p. 16) by media portraying Islam they also uncovered a very similar use of those negative words by both broadsheets and tabloids (p. 15, p. 18).
