I am qualified to be accepted into the National Honor Society based on scholarship. Scholarship is defined as academic study or achievement; learning at a high level. I have maintained at least a 96 unweighted overall average throughout my years in Trinity as well as in middle school. I have tried to take rigorous courses as well as many to help me get into a better school for my major in science. I take Honors courses along with an AP course and manage to be consistent in my school work while having practice for sports after school every day and twice a week for outside of school sports. I have been nominated for the Science Honor Society for excelling in my Biology, Chemistry, and Physics classes. I have been on Principal’s List Freshman year when I was ranked 30 in the class and Sophomore year when I ranked 20 in the class, so I believe my continued growth as the curriculum gets harder qualifies me for the National Honor Society under scholarship. …show more content…
For the past two summers, I helped Coach Hogan at the Holy Trinity Volleyball Camp by running drills with the campers. Also, the summer of sophomore year, I helped at the basketball camp here. Lastly, I was a Shadow Ambassador and helped at the Open Houses. I also have two upcoming interviews to hopefully get a volunteer opportunity at St. Joseph Hospital and Nassau University Medical Center.

The prospect of becoming a member has prompted me to take a look upon what I wish to accomplish as a part of this organization. Last summer I volunteered at a local hospital for a total of 136 hours. At the end of the summer I received an honorable mention award for being a dedicated volunteer who is highly respected around the hospital. Furthermore, I've been a committed volunteer during this school year. I have also been an active member of my school's HOSA (Health Occupation Students of America) chapter; this March I will be competing in a medical terminology competition against members of other HOSA chapters across the state. Additionally, I am a devoted member of my school's academic decathlon team. Finally, I have been a member of CSF (California Scholarship Federation) for the past two years.

I must admit that this is a group that I have been anticipating joining since the beginning of my high school career. It is even more grand to be able to work towards enrollment in the Society side by side with such an astoundingly gifted group of young men and women. I think the sense of maturity I have developed throughout my life has given me the determination to be the best person I can be. That being said, I would love to be inducted into the National Honor Society and not only represent our school, but represent our generation to the community, not as a “selfie” generation, but as a generation, with great potential. Growing up, my parents never expected perfection, but expected that I would try to accomplish my best. The National Honor Society is a very prestigious organization that I would love to be a part of. It was an honor to be nominated as a candidate. I am currently a sophomore in high school, and I have always wanted to be a member of the National Honor Society. As I look back over the years and think of the times I have attended the ceremonies and saw all the awards the members received, I recall saying to myself “That’s going to be me one day.”. I asked my teachers about all the requirements that had to be met to be a National Honor Society member and I made it my main goal to meet each and every one.

The National Honor Society upholds four pillars of excellence that all members attain; scholarship, service, leadership, and character. While these four ideals are present in all members I believe that I withhold these characteristics, as well as numerous others, which qualifies me as an ideal scholar and member of the National Honor Society. These assets are not adequately portrayed in my application, but are equally important to scholarship, service, leadership, and character.
As a candidate for membership in the National Honor Society, I believe I possess the qualities that are expected to be inducted in. I have the quality of scholarship portion. As I’ve been awarded honor roll every quarter not only in my high school career but in middle and elementary school as well. I have also worked to receive an accumulative grade of 85 or greater each year. I maintain this while being treasurer for the 2018 class, playing soccer, and running cross country. With the many leadership opportunities I was given, I've had the chance to attend the national leadership conference in Michigan for the past two years.
