My College Essay: A Day At The Special Olympics At the special Olympics I saw students from other schools looking and sounding as excited and happy as me and my class. At Bates College, I was ready for the three events: the softball toss; mile run; and long jump. I train hard with my class since the year before because I stank, and I wanted to change that. I train hard so I could not only taste victory, but feel victory. In the end my training show and prove better results than last year. In the mile run, softball toss, and long jump I have proof of it. On that day, I could tell that something was still burning bright; a second chance. After the bus ride, we made it to the Olympics and saw other students from other schools with their teachers looking as happy and excited as us. After some announcers told us how happy they were for coming, they told us what events were there and what to expected. I been told which events I been given in order and when launch was, so I was off. The first event I had was the mile run. They put me in the half mile run with one girl, a boy with crutches, a over weight boy, and a tall and skinny boy. I was put in it because I'm a little chubby. I wonder why the girl and tall guy was in it, they seem fit enough to take on the full mile run. When the bell went off I ran like a rocket, but the tall guy was keeping up and we were tied up to the end. After crossing the finish line I look back to see where the others were. The boy with crutches was keeping up with the over weight boy, who was more walking than running, but did pass him. The girl was still at the starting line, I guess she was in this run because she lack directions. Hard to tell who won, I check the ribbon I gotten and it said first place. Supper happy, I went and got my launch and then head to the second
