As a Graphic Design major I will admit that at first I did not think a drawing class was something necessary to create a successful foundation towards a design career. Now looking back I can realize just how inaccurate my thoughts were, drawing is not only valuable but also fundamental to creating a lucrative path as a graphic designer. As someone who 9 times out of 10 will stick to creating a work of art on the computer, putting pen to paper was something very new and intimidating to me. As class progressed I became more comfortable and began to develop many crucial skills that have already began to help me in my graphic design projects, such as understanding forms and space, the understanding of gesture drawing, and the creation of texture, shadows, and 3D objects. Overall, I think all the skills I have learned in drawing 100 will forever be applicable to my future career as a graphic designer. The first classes we really focused on …show more content…

Upon first introduction to this particular section in class I was very overwhelmed at the idea and wondered how I could ever create such an object on something 2D. By focusing on contour lines and highlights and darks, creating something 3 dimensional become much easier and I started to understand the concept more. Being able to understand how to create something 3D is extremely important in graphic design if one wishes to have a future in such a competitive field. As a designer one must be able to create a work on a computer screen that is life-like, meaning having something 2D looks extremely flat and bland. By grasping this skill I have been able to take my designs to the next level by taking my work to a more life-like presentation, allowing for a more professional final product. Without drawing 100 I more than likely would not have been able to grasp the illusion of creating 3D on 2D surfaces with such intent and
