Did you know that going to school could be stressful? Well, not when you have life for breakfast!. Getting to classes on the first day might be hard because you may not know where everything is if you ever forget a book or a pencil that’s okay because I am sure that a lot of other people have forgotten a book or a pencil in the past. Being an A+ student will help you with your grades and even with deciding what you would like to be when you grow up, but make sure you study! When you head to classes you could possibly find one of your friends trying to find their next class. When I was walking in to enter the college, I saw bright white walls and I could feel the hot sun beaming down on my sunburnt shoulders making then sting even more! While I was walking to my next class I could hear my friends talking about how great their first class of college was. During a class period, I realized that I wasn’t prepared because I did not have my science book/binder but it turned out that I got all of my questions right on my science quiz. The next day of school was awesome I aced my tests and even luckier I got some DQ. The very next day when I was walking to class I could smell the beautiful looking dandelions they were so yellow and smelled of yummy honey. While I was walking to my first class I could hear my friends talking to each other and talking about what they are going to do over the weekend. I could hear some people saying that there was a party this weekend. I was like omg yay I might want to come so I asked my friends are you guys going to the party? They all said yes and they asked if I was coming and I said: “of course I am coming!” So the next day which was Saturday. The party was filled with people eating cookies and drinking punch. Freshman fifteen is the NEW EPIDEMIC!!.. or not? In the eyes of freshman, college can be seen as entering the lion’s den when transitioning from high school. Students routines, diets, and moods drastically change resulting in an imbalance of one’s well being. As a way to cope college freshman typically look towards food for a release. Therefore, this is where the term freshman fifteen was born. Freshman fifteen is the idea that in one’s first year of attending college, the student will gain fifteen pounds. On average students are gaining weight at an abnormal pace however, it is not exactly the amount that the media has portrayed.
Strong Start research and demonstration project provided high fidelity wraparound services to mothers in early recovery from substance use as an intervention to increase protective factors in the mother that are identified as preventative of child maltreatment. Many students think their general education classes are going to be easy. This assumption is usually made because they are the basis of all of the advanced classes. When students sign up for classes for their degree, English 101 is often a requirement. Therefore, students put it on their schedule without a second thought. Most students do not realize how hard such a basic class could be. Mrs. Fox’s English 101 class is hard because it is time consuming, requires a lot of responsibility, and contains a difficult grading system.

Like there are borders dividing nations, the world was divided into day and night. Half of the planet was day and the other half was the night. On the day side it was always hot because the sun was always shining on them nd on the night side the weather was very cold because there was no sun to heat them. University 101 has helped me acclimate me to college life at Northern Illinois University. When I first started here, I was extremely nervous for the new environment I was going into rather blindly. However, after taking UNIV 101, I learned some valuable information to better myself for my future college endeavors. Thanks to my professor, peer educator, classmates, the novel, and the text book, I will be able to continue throughout college with confidence and stability.

When I was young they used to ask me what I wanted to be when I grew up, and until six years ago I never knew. It took me exactly eleven years until I figured out the one thing I wanted to do with my life. The very first show I performed in was Guys and Dolls, and from then on my devotion to acting only grew. I feel as though the Early Middle College Program is a good opportunity to further myself in my future goal of a Master’s Degree in Musical Theatre, as well as saving money while doing so. The Early Middle College Program is a very large stepping stone on my way to a Master’s Degree, and is the most effective way to get where I want to be.

As underclassmen you come into high school either thinking that the next four years of your schooling will be really easy or really stressful. To tell the truth it can be both, weather you come into high school with a positive or negative attitude. High school is the last place you can get away with some mistakes and try again. The next four years will test your skills and responsibilities. You can learn a lot about yourself in high school, from how you use your time in school to your after school activities you do. What you do from a freshman to a senior will determine what you want and can do for future careers. High school will challenge you in many ways from organization skills to time management skills.
