My first community engagement for the fall semester was Discoverfest at school. It was a day dedicated to students to walk around and learn more about different clubs and organizations at school. It was a public event open to all students at California State University of Fullerton to join different clubs. Discoverfest took place the 2nd and 3rd of September, from 11:30am to 2:00pm. All the different clubs and organizations were in different booths promoting their clubs with different posters, huge letters from sororities. Since, I am a transfer student and I wanted to get to know more about the clubs/organizations at Cal State Fullerton, discoverfest was a great opportunity to get to know what goes around campus. While walking around the event I was overwhelmed by how many clubs and organizations were outside. I was excited to get to hear about them. Members of the clubs were trying to engage students to get to know more about their club. I was also giving out free stuff, like pens, pencils and food. I heard about some clubs, for example Destino, which is a club that empowers students to love Christ. They were giving up ice pops since that day was a hot day, and they had music playing. I also stopped by the club that one of our classmates mentioned in class, which was Hermanas Unidas. Hermanas Unidas is a Latina women’s club where girls help each other with schoolwork and its also state wide that started in San Diego. They study together and help each other in school. I was really interested in joining that club but the meetings are in the evening when I’m not available to
