My favorite theory of personality is Carl Rogers’ person-centered theory. “Rogers believed that within each of us is an active, controlling drive toward fulfillment of our potentials that enables us to maintain and enhance ourselves.” I feel this relates to my Christian faith because I am constantly “maintaining and enhancing toward fulfillment.” I strive daily to be a good Christian and a good student. I have mentioned in other assignments that I am a work in progress and I believe we all are. The priest at my hometown church, Fr. Renato Cruz, always adds after he gives us a goal to accomplish that “the rewards are out of this world.” Some of the reason I find Rogers’ theory interesting is because of the “humanistic psychology emphasizes the active role of the individual in shaping their internal and external worlds, the person is also active, creative, and experiencing being who lives in the present and responds to current perceptions, relationships and encounters, the basic instinct to succeed, and the potential for goodness.” I believe that no matter where you come from or who your family is you can succeed and we should always strive to be the best person we can be and a positive self-concept can help us accomplish this goal. “One theory as to why having a positive outlook enables you to cope better with stressful …show more content…

They are both caring, sweet people, my mom usually has a smile on her face and my dad is always joking and laughing. I feel I am the same way, I stress more than I should but the majority of the time I behave the same as my parents. I believe these days it is harder to find positive influences. I believe parents, siblings, and other family members can be a great influence in our lives.
