My favorite business operating in Central Florida is The Walt Disney Company. Disney is an entertainment and mass media conglomerate. It has its headquarters in Burbank, California. Disney was founded on October 16, 1923 by Walt Disney and his brother Roy. In my opinion, Disney embodies the ideal corporation. I am biased though. I have worked at Disney for over 17 years as a Power Delivery Service Manager. The way we do business is one of the things that make Disney a special place to work. They released the “Alice Comedies”. Later that year they formed Disney Brothers Cartoon Studio. In 1926, they became Walt Disney Studio. On December 16, 1929 the Walt Disney Studios partnership was reorganized as a corporation with the name of Walt Disney Productions, Limited. On April 2, 1940 Walt Disney Productions had its first public offering and became a publicly traded company. Today, the company operates has four business units. The first is still the Walt Disney Studios. This unit contains all the film, music, and theatre offerings of the company. The second is the Walt Disney Parks and Resorts segment which includes the parks, resorts, and cruise line. The third is the Networks which is all the television properties. The company is so large it is hard to narrow it down. There currently over 60,000 cast members in Central Florida alone and over 166,000 worldwide. The company’s most visible agent is the CEO Bob Iger. With that said, I believe the most essential and important agent is none other than Mickey Mouse.
