My Family's Trip to Florida

Here we are, packing in the nice, warm, mellow sun. The sweet-scented flowers of May are blooming. The huge amount of supplies goes into the back of our big, white van. Everyone’s face has a sincerely eager smile. I look at my mom’s smile, and I can swear that it’s as open as a crocodile’s. We’re taking a family trip down to Florida.

All of us hop into the big, white van. “We’re going to Florida” is just about the only thing I can hear anyone saying for the whole trip.

The trip is going to take forever! The van is all cramped and sweaty. I’m tossing and turning all the time. The trip is going to take all day, all night, and then some!

For now, I’m stuck in a seat with my little sister named Alexis. She has dark, dark blonde hair (you could easily confuse it with brown) and blue eyes. She’s five years old, almost six. I’m really annoyed that she gets as much space on the light brown seats of the van, and I’m almost one and one half times larger than her.

“Move over!” is what we constantly say.

“No, you move.”

“No, you move!”

I fall asleep around when we reach around the South Carolina point.

When I awake the next morning, rays of sunlight are just entering the window of our van. The sun is rising, and is colored a pale yellow.

I ask my parents, “Are we there yet?”

They reply, “Almost, Buddy.”

At last, we’re in Florida! But, before the fun can start, we have to do some other stuff. We have to take my grandfather to our relatives in Miami. So, we now have to drive 4 hours from Orlando to Miami cramped up in the white van.

When we finally get to Florida, it’s over 100 degrees out! We go into our relatives’ living space (it’s either a condo or an apartment). We decide to have lunch at a local ...

...ven’t tasted the salt water in my mouth or stinging my body (strangely enough, I kind of miss it).

The next few days are the same. We spend time at the beach or in the pool. Soon enough, it’s time to go home.

All of our bags are packed. We load the van, and then we set off to go home. The trip home is pretty silent. We stop a few times and my Mom always says “We’re almost there, guys.”

Well, after many, many grueling hours, we finally arrive home! The trip is over and it was amazing. I cant’ believe how fun it was. I unpack my stuff from the inner surface of the van. I walk up my stone sidewalk and to my wooden front door. I wait for my parents to open it, and then I walk home and smell the familiar sent of my house. I get settled in. I get out of my clothes into new ones. I settle down, and I shortly go to sleep. The trip is over, and it was great.
