Recommended: My future goals
Ten years from now I hope to accomplish my dream goals or be striving towards those goals. The phrase “dream goals” can entail a million little easily accomplishable things, such as making it through the day in one piece or a far fetched goal such as going into outer space. For me, my main goals or “dream goals” that I am currently striving for are career based, and that goal is to one day become a successful Marine Biologist that specializes in cetaceans, more commonly known as marine mammals, while also trying my hardest to converse the natural beauty of the oceans ecosystem. Becoming a Marine biologist may not be the most financially sound job, or even an easily achieved career, but for me it is not about the money or the easy way. Would I prefer that I have a high income? Yes. Would I prefer to strive for a job that is not so competitive and limited? Of …show more content…
When I was younger, my father was an avid diver, going out on the dive boat every weekend possible to take photographs while dragging my mother and I along for the ride. I was not one to complain though, because it meant going to the beach just about every weekend during prime diving season. The photographs that he took under water are what truly inspired me to hopefully get involved into marine sciences. The photographs were captivating; the different shades of blue and the variety of colors emitting from the various organisms captured within the photo were simply breathtaking. I did not understand how anyone could look away from them, and I still do not understand how people can look away from such photos. They allowed for me to see part of the organisms that lived under water; giving me a glimpse into another world, and into a world I only wanted to explore for my own
Focusing on pursuing a career you like is important because statistics show fifty-two percent of Americans are unhappy going to work every day because they chose a career they didn’t have an interest in. My ideal job is in the medical field because I’ve always had a passion in helping people. I want to specialize in nurse anesthesia because of the important role they have in society. Nurse anesthesia interests me because of the tasks they do, the advanced education path they must take, and the history behind the profession.
My vomit clouded the ocean surface with a purple-brown color before fading below the depths. On the other side of the vessel, I re-equipped my mask and plunged into the water to be greeted by my aunt – she was to be my snorkeling partner as she had much experience in the depths of Hawaii. When I submerged my head it was almost as if I had entered a new world. This unseen dimension housed a coral reef that vibrantly shone with a mixture of bright reds and deep blues. The reef almost seemed to pulsate as thousands of fish darted in and out of their subterranean homes. The water was thick with salt and teemed with plankton. We often resurfaced to point out fish to each other. I remember my aunt telling me of the environmental dangers of touching the still-living coral. “If you pierce its skin it will likely become infected and die, and all of the fish who live in it will die too,” she expertly explained. From then on I kept my distance to at least 5-6
The Marine Biology program at UCLA is geared toward students who want to specialize in the field of marine sciences. In addition to learning biology, students gain first-rate experience in such disciplines as oceonography, marine organisms, and the evolutionary processes of lif...
From the time we’re young we’re asked, “What do you want to be when you grow up”? Some people answer that question by simply following a family member’s footsteps into a certain field. Other people have a dream that guides them into a career. For me it was more of a challenge that drove me into a particular career.
Humans have spent billions of dollars, and millions of man hours conducting research of sea life. As technology advances and the ability to stay underwater for longer periods of time become available, new information about sea life and there ecosystems surface. The vast ocean covers more than 70 percent of planet Earth’s surface (NOAA). However researchers and scientists have explored less than five percent of what really lies under water (NOAA). Leaving behind and amazing ninety-five percent left for new information to be found and researched. Sadly the amount of exploration of the ocean is low because the danger that come with researching such a vast ocean. Whether in a scuba unit or a submarine, many different dangers can arise at low and deep depths when studying the ocean floor. Even with these dangers researchers still dive into a new world, and come out with information that could aid humans on the surface. Such as cures to certain poisons created by different species, gaining a food source, and understanding different sea life. Scientists need to go the extra mile and find more information about the ocean at deeper depths and continue research in shallow waters so as to gain more viable facts that could benefit humans on the surface even more.
said, “Every time you dive, you hope you'll see something new - some new species. Sometimes the ocean gives you a gift, sometimes it doesn't.” As you are swimming under the ocean, imagine the sparkle of the water as you look up the surface from a hundred feet below; floating along with the current, slowly and deeply breathing while observing the sea life. Continue to imagine the ability to remain underwater for an hour or more, just swimming and observing the ocean. This is the life of a scuba diver. Many people think of Scuba Diving as a swim in the water, but in reality it is a very dangerous, and potentially fatal sport and activity. There are many types of Scuba
Personally, I have never been to an ocean to witness its beauty. It is in my deepest interests to maintain nature and leave the world a better place then when I was born. After college I plan on pursuing a career in Marine Biology, hopefully one day I will be able to help solve the issue of ocean acidification. The ocean was where all life originated and the fact that we put it in jeopardy is frightening. The future generations deserve a chance to see pristine life-filled waters, the Great Barrier Reef and the many other wonders that inhabit the
I would like to be a marine biologist because not much of the ocean has been explored. If I could explore at least 1% of what has not been seen, I would be satisfied. I would like to be a marine biologist so that I can discover new species of marine life. Some marine biologists have found evidence of enormous squids, but have never seen their entir...
In order to have many career goals, you first must have a career. Plus, in today’s economy, it is not as easy to obtain high-level job positions. Once you obtain a job, though, it will provide many merits and perks. My motivation for having this as one of my top career goals is to prove my skill as a reliable worker in an ever growing job force. I take pride in the work I do and always want it to represent me in the best way it can. I do not want to be lost in the endless sea of workers, I want to stand out from everyone else. I strive to be seen as a leader and innovator, and not a follower. Obtaining a job will help me achieve all this, and it will also allow me to start to make a change in my
Now this is all I think about. At first the main career goal was always to make money, a significant wage that would allow myself and my family to live extremely comfortably. As time goes on and I have matured money is still a goal, I still not only want to be fairly compensated, but I need to be as does everyone really. More importantly on my list of goals is that I want to have a career where it is just that a career. I go to work every day and have that feeling of accomplishment that people are depending on me to show up and do my job to make their jobs easier. I want to at least in some way make a difference and do something that matters even if the masses may not know me or what I do my staff will feel my absence as well as my presence completely in a good way. My goals are to be successful and respected not only by my peers but even acquaintances and to finally have something that when the time is right I will actually be able to retire from and not have to be like so many in my family and work right up until I’m broken and can’t go on any longer. My main goal is to be something my children can be proud of and aspire to
The career I choose to pursue is the career of Business Administration. This career consists of running a small or big business and being able to run it and be capable of making small or very important decisions. A business runs and depends on the people and how people spend their money. If people spend their money responsibly and they know how to administrate their money and will make the economy to be stable and be good. As we all know, the economy has been really bad for the past year and it has made millions of people loose their homes and their jobs. The economy is a big factor in this career and it could be a huge problem that can be faced for a long period of time and more than once.
Another thing I wanted to do was be a teacher but I knew those weren’t the goals I was completely aiming for so when I discovered how Marine Biology made me feel, I also discovered that a lot of marine biologist are also teachers or college professors during the time where things start to get slow. I plan of receiving my master degree in college to become a Marine Biologist. There’s a lot of personality traits a good marine biologist keeps to contain and I personally feel like I have them all. One of the biggest ones are to be able to enjoy the outdoors and have a love for scientific experiments and have a patience to repeat them. Also my aunt told me in her work field, everyone are very strong communicators. I find those all to be traits I’m pretty good
Money and fame do not motivate my goals. Engineering in all forms is a field of innovation and invention. Aspirations of any great engineer should be to introduce to the world a new idea, product, or service that will make people happier and the environment safer. Success in these challenges is a reward greater than any dollar amount or public recognition. Engineers bring societies to new levels of civilization through their advancements in technology and discovery. The challenge to provide people with ever-increasing standards while at the same time feeding the population with ideas of what could be attracts my imagination, intelligence, and curiosity far more than any other career option. The engineering field embraces these challenges.
We have all been underwater at some point in life whether it was in a pool, lake, or in the ocean, but that was probably for a short amount of time. With Scuba Diving, you get the opportunity to be underwater for more than 10 minutes at a time without having to worry about things on the surface. With Scuba Diving already having been banned temporarily a while ago in Crater Lake because of concern about the environmental impacts of invasive species to the marine ecosystems, some people think that Scuba Diving could become banned in more places, if nothing is done to combat the problem. Today, I will discuss Scuba Diving and its effect on the environment along with how to make it safer for the environment. During this past year, I learned to scuba dive and was certified for Scuba Diving at Neptune Dive and Ski. Today, I will discuss the effect of Scuba Diving on the environment through my research, product, and learning stretch. The first task that I was faced with was gathering information about Scuba Diving and researching the problem and the multiple ways to resolve the problem that it has on the environment. I researched the problem and ways to resolve the problem that Scuba Diving has on the environment, with my thesis focusing on how Scuba Diving although damaging to marine life and plants, could with the proper training be one of the best helpers of the present and for the future of the ocean life. Scuba Divers go into some of the nicest bodies of water in the world with the intent to observe and interact with the environment that is beneath the water. However, some Scuba Divers lack the proper training and knowledge necessary to dive in the water safely and carefully. Scuba Diving is meant for recreational use and for educat...
One of my biggest accomplishments was graduating from high school and presiding to attend a community college to further my secondary education. The moment I graduated from high school I wanted to continue and pursue a further education. My education goals include passing all my classes and obtaining all the sixty units to transfer to a four-year university. Walking down an aisle nervous, shaking and thrilled to receive my diploma in business administration is my dream, as well as my long-term goal. Currently I am attending a community college obtaining my units to transfer in due time to a four-year university and receive my MBA in Business. My interest in business arouse during high school, when I was asked what my dream career was. I wanted a career were I would be in charge, a career were I could share my ideas. I like to communicate with other people. Many careers have been impacted by...
