For our PSA we decided to use music to set different types of tones for each scene. The PSA first starts off with somber music to convey the seriousness of deadly incidents that have occurred, this sets the mood of the PSA. It then transfers over to dramatic music to show the statistics of deaths caused by these disasters. The music in the background shows how important it is to understand the outcomes of these disasters. It soon continues on and changes into depressing music while students speak about their thoughts on how these events impact the environment. How can different types of music affect people’s emotions? Music has many different ways to affect people. In some ways, it is good for the body both physically and mentally. In other ways, people think it is nice to listen to. More detailed, music has personalities, which can express what people feel. There are many observations involving different ways to express human emotions. Emotions are very interesting things, especially when they involve music. Music can have many personalities, affect people’s emotions, and be used as therapy.
It is difficult to show the effects of music on the individual, but it is easy to see how the individual chooses genres of music based on mood. The soldiers in Iraq, for instance, listened to a song by the band Drowning Pool titled, “Let the Bodies Hit the Floor,” over the speakers in their tanks. After listening to the song it would be easy to see that they didn’t just choose the song because they thought it pertained to their current situation. The song is loud, fast, and hard. The song fueled the soldiers. I don’t think that it made them into bloodthirsty savages, but I do think that it pumped them up with adrenaline. Walk into any random Gold’s Gym and I’m sure you will not hear classical or new age music, but instead some sort of rock. David in the Bible played music to soothe Saul. Due to David’s harp and voice Saul calmed down and fell asleep. This is present even in today’s society. Throughout my life, music has always been a major influence. It has the power to change my mood when I'm feeling down, but the thing I find most intriguing about music is that it doesn't always end up improving your mood: like all forms of art, it imitates life, which is not always portrayed in a positive light. The musicians that I admire most have the versatility to induce several different emotional responses in the same piece. This quality is present in most of the wide variety of music I listen to, from Russian composer Dmiti Shostakovich, to Chicago jazz band Tortoise, to California pop/rock sextet Mr. Bungle.

In our day an age, music has been used throughout numerous spiritual occasions. For this assignment, I used my personal experience from a funeral church service I attended on November 3, 2015. Throughout my life, I 've been to numerous spiritual events and one type of event that really has a strong emotion towards it, is a funeral service. One important aspect of a funeral, is the music that is used during the services. The funeral I attended was for my parents old friend and it was a very emotional event that was paired with music. Music in this type of spiritual event is really important in how it changes the atmosphere and the role it 's used in the service to convey certain feelings from the music.
