When it comes to films, for the majority of moviegoers, music is perhaps the last element that people find out impressive or remarkable. It is easy for the audience to neglect the decisive role of music in the movie. Yet, the power of music should not be underestimated since it can either play as a magician that performs miracles for the movie or be a rotten apple that spoils the barrel. If a fantastic film is a splendid painting, music would be the subtle thing that colors the work and makes it a masterpiece. Due to the incredible functions of music, they successfully turned the movie The Hunger Game into a more outstanding classic. There is no denying that the quantities of the numbers in the film are not in a great amount; however, as long as the music is put into the perfect place, the effect is beyond the viewers’ imaginations. The particular operation of the lullaby is to reflect and evoke emotion. A piercing and shrill crying like an incisive knife breaks the placid morning sharply, it is Primrose who had a bad dream and woke up with a startle. Katniss calms her little sister down with tender voice and tight hug. Everything is in silence except for the neutral background filler with the chirping of crickets and the cries of crows which create a queer atmosphere and a sense of misfortune make the audience fidgety. The restless chirrups cause a stark contrast to the tranquil lullaby which enhance the lamentation that arouses people’s sorrowful emotion later on during Rue’s farewell.
