Recommended: Causes of malnutrition in developing countries

Some of you are loyal multivitamin capsule consumers on daily basis and I believe you have good reasons to do so. Here I'm addressing to those folks who are taking multivitamin supplements on their own, without a doctor's prescription (yea, just a disclaimer!). You probably care little about healthy lifestyle and nutritious diet gimmicks, and popping a multivitamin capsule regularly gives you a sense of satisfaction that you have actually taken a positive step towards good health. You have got cash and market has got plenty of multivitamins... in television ad multivitamin capsules work wonders in revitalizing a drained of office guy... all the vitamins and minerals you have heard of till date, you will find listed in the ingredient section of your multivitamin …show more content…

Did it ever cross your mind what those dozens of ingredients are doing inside your body? For the sake of simplicity even if I assume that pharmaceutical companies are true to their promises, do you have any idea how much of those vitamins and minerals your body actually needs or how much it can ultimately absorb? I can overhear your clueless silence... but it is absolutely cool... let's initiate this multivitamin chitchat. If I propose that you should rely solely on your diet which should be fully nutritious, rich in proteins, vitamins and minerals, you'll perhaps laugh at my idealism and like I said before, I still belive you have good reasons to do so. In developing countries like India where majority of women of reproductive age group and school going children are undernourished, preaching on nutritious diet would certainly be more of a theoretical approach. It is not just the affordability of people, even lifestyle trends are pushing you away every second from habits of eating naturally nutritious foods!
