A symbol of a pillow represents Mr. Rios due to his tendency to dream. For instance, his fantasies of a “perfect life” (such as Lexi attending Stanford) must be fulfilled. If those plans deteriorates, he postulates an uncomplicated solution, such as when he tells Lexi that “‘...we’re going to fix this Stanford mess,’” (Omololu 164).
