I have a few issues with some personal image issues, and I tend to get anxious very easily. Sometimes it's very easy to mask, and I can work just fine, but other times it can be overwhelming. Like, with the upcoming finals week for example. I felt as though my state of mind leading up to my departure was keeping me from moderating at a well enough pace for the promoted position I held. After taking a few weeks to focus more on my schoolwork, and working on my self-confidence, I wanted an opportunity to come back an get familiar with the server
In the beginning of fall of 2016, I got a job as a medical assistant. It’s long process to get this sort of job, at least with the University of Utah so when I finally went through the orientation, lab training, computer training, and community clinics I got to work and realized there was, even more, training. Every clinic has its personal preferences and rules, so I had to start from scratch with the training I already had. As soon as I got therenoticeI was a given a quick tour of the clinic and given all the rules, passwords and regulations. It was already too much to handle, but I was memorizing as much as I could. I can’t always function under pressure, but I tried not to let my nerves get to me.
The anatomy of the knee contains the femur, tibia and the patella. There are four main ligaments within the knee. Those ligaments are called medial collateral (mcl), lateral collateral (lcl), anterior cruciate (acl) and posterior cruciate (pcl). The anterior cruciate ligament (acl) is in the middle of the knee and prevents the shin from sliding. An anterior cruciate ligament tear is the most common harmed ligament, undergoing an estimate of 200,000 happenings yearly. Typically individuals who play sports such as football, basketball, skiing or soccer experience this injury.
Kids just want to have fun. In a bygone era, parents wanted kids to play sports for fun and camaraderie. However, a new attitude is developing among coaches and parents, which is mopping-up fun from youth sports. Now it's all about the team and the game. The team must win the game at any cost.
Throughout Rajiv Joseph’s play, Gruesome Playground Injuries, the two characters, Doug and Kayleen, sporadically meet throughout the course of 30 years due to injuries ranging from getting “beaten up pretty badly” (Joseph 31) to going into a “coma” (Joseph 27). The play starts out with the two characters first meeting in the school nurse’s office with injuries of their own. This is the start of a relationship that is full of pain and healing throughout the years. Told in a very unique structure of five year increments, the play shows how injuries, a reoccurring image that may be self-inflicted or inflicted upon one, bring the pair together when either is in a dire situation.

The number of girls and women participating in all levels of sports has risen greatly in recent years, and the way they play has changed too. Women's sports used to be played by a slow defensive style. Today, the sports are played with speed, precision, and power. With these changes have come increased injuries, and female athletes have higher injury rates than men in many sports. Knee injuries have been rising in female sports. Anterior crutiate ligament (ACL) injuries have become the most common injury in the knee to female athletes. Females are four times more susceptible to injury then men.

Violence is the threatened or actual use of physical force or power against another person, against oneself, or against a group or community, that either results in injury, death, or deprivation. Violence has become a national epidemic and a major public health issue. In a 1998 study by the University of Pennsylvania's Annenberg School for Communication, 64.8% of the 405 African Americans surveyed viewed domestic violence as one of the most serious issues facing their community. Approximately one in three African American women are abused by a husband or partner in the course of a lifetime. Of the women who die from domestic violence, 28% are African American. Many people agree that African Americans are one of the most violent races in America. But this is a racial stereotype; constructed beliefs that all members of the same race share given circumstances. Despite the perception that African Americans are prone to violence, those who took part in the Civil Rights Movement earned their equality through non- violent means.
A silent epidemic in America is the all too common childhood exposure to interpersonal traumatic stressors (D’Andrea, Ford, Stolbach, Spinazzola, & van der Kolk, 2012). Approximately 6.6 million children were reported to Child Protective Services (CPS) in 2014 with alleged abuse or neglect (ACF, 2014). Parents are the culprit of eighty percent of all children who endure maltreatment (van der Kolk, 2005). According to Fratto (2016), maltreatment is abuse and/ or neglect by a parent or caregiver. Children who have been exposed to emotional and physical abuse, neglect, sexual abuse, or witness to war can affect the development of a secure attachment between the child and caregiver (Cook et al., 2005). Injury can result from many different incidents. One specifically important incident resulting in injury is domestic violence. It is approximated statistically that 1.8 million to 3-4 million domestic violence cases occur each year, unfortunately, the number of cases that occur cannot be more accurate due to domestic violence usually occurring in the relative privacy of one’s home. (Kelly, 2003) As disturbing as these numbers may be, we need to acknowledge that domestic violence is not a new problem arising in American homes but what is new is that we are now more aware of how serious the issue of domestic violence is in today’s society. Today, domestic violence, in its broadest definition is being defined as verbal, emotional, threatening, or physical abuse among current or former intimate partners and includes any persons related by blood. (Robert, 2002) They may be living currently within the same household or have been in the past for it to be considered domestic. Domestic violence has no barriers. It affects any race, religion, culture, or socioeconomic status. In today’s world every nurse knowingly or not is most likely to encounter a situation involving domestic violence. (Nucero & O’Connor, 2002) Therefore, it is important that within this discussion that the following issues is to be identified: the seriousness of domestic violence and what factors contribute to domestic violence, what role the legal system must take on when domestic violence occurs, and lastly what a nurse and the medical world can do in identifying and assessing domestic violence.
A muscle trauma which, is also known as a muscle strain is an injury which, occurs within the muscle tendon. The pain can be classified into three different sections which are; mild, moderate and severe. The main cause of a muscle strain is when the muscle is overstretched since the muscles have probably been working too hard. If a muscle tear occurs, it can also damage the attaching tendons within the muscles because, the muscle tissues are stretched and then torn (2).
Last week, I had a little of everything. My agency gave me the opportunity to attend an Aggressive Replacement training on Monday and Tuesday. I found the training really interesting and helpful. I learned a lot of skills to help students working with their anger issues. On Wednesday, I went back to my placement and work on some cases I had pending. Last week, I did a home visit with the speech therapists to get some signatures; however, the student’s mother was not home. On Wednesday, I decided to go again, and I finally got the signatures. On Friday, I had to fill out a CPS report for the first time. Honestly, even though I knew it was something I had to do, I cannot explain why I felt bad. I am glad I had

My last seven and a half months have consisted carrying out the work placement element of my college curriculum in Fexco offices in Killorglin. I was placed into the Finance department to coincide with my degree major of accounting and finance where I undertook a various amount of relevant tasks and projects. I thoroughly enjoyed my time working in Fexco and I gained a vast understanding of how the company is run and organized. I felt as though every day was a learning experience and a chance to develop a further understanding of what the working world consists of.
