I’m so happy to be speaking to the South Middle School 8th grade graduates. I see some close friends out there and… (pause) some kids I truly have never seen before. (shrug) Today I don’t want to bore you all with some cheesy “High School Musical” speech about achieving our greatest dreams and self-discovery and acceptance, because honestly, middle school is just the first step in figuring out who you are and what you want to achieve. However, we did accomplish some things during middle school and I think we should celebrate those milestones. We found out what we are good at, we became more responsible, and we navigated through the cliques to choose where we belonged socially. 1st FIND WHAT YOU LIKE First, middle school let us choose our own path and express ourselves. We could express our individuality through our appearance.. In middle school, we learned more about our talents and abilities. South gave us the opportunity to choose our own electives for the first time. We could decide what topics interested us and could meet people with similar interests. Another class which let us express ourselves was P.E.. We played different sports every quarter so everyone had a chance to show off their skills in a certain sport. Unless you weren’t talented in sports. But the one thing everyone enjoyed about P.E. was seeing certain gym teachers do
