VAK Learning Styles
The VAK learning style determines whether you are visual auditory or kinesthetic learning type. Visual is better learning through things like demos and projects. Auditory is better learning through hearing and spoken words. Kinesthetic is better learning through hands on experiences. The exercise stated that you could possibly have a learning style blended into another. My partner was fairly close, out of 30 points visual received 9, auditory 11, and kinesthetic 10. Knowing that this student is an auditory learner helps her greatly in choosing how she may go about her future classes. For instance she might go to more group discussions, lectures, or english courses. Anything that feeds her information through her ears she is going to try to access it. This goes right along with her first mode of dealing with conflict, which is collaboration. These are great leadership skills, mostly because high listening skills are great when dealing with conflict and collaborating on contrasting ideas.
Locus of Control Assessment
With this exercise the outcome was very obvious to what my partner was. She had a strong belief of the internal locus of control. Internal locus of control is belief that events result primarily from their own behaviors and actions rather than powerful others, fate or chance primarily determine events. This could show that she is a responsible person and maybe she should gravitate towards things more easily controllable. Personality Assessment
Based on the Meyers-Briggs Type inventory She was a very extroverted person the student has good people skills and leading comes naturally to her. She like following practical concrete ideas, examine situations thoroughly, and carrying out carefully laid out plans. She was very practical, realistic, matter-of-fact. Decisive, quick move to implement decisions. She quickly organizes projects and people to get things done, focus on getting results in the most efficient way possible (which sounds like great leadership skills). Take care of routine details. Has a clear set of logical standards, systematically follow them and want others to also. Just like her backup conflict plan said she may get forceful in implementing my plans.

Nearly everyone in the modern world has heard of the term self-control, a seemingly non-important or uninteresting topic of interest. However, self-control has been related to having one of the most significant impacts on a person. Even some have gone as far to say that self-control is the “biggest predictor of a successful and satisfying life” (Pinker 1), which are bold words for a topic that many merely disregard. The idea of self-control is a concept coined in the Victorian era, and appears immensely throughout the novel, Willpower: Rediscovering the Greatest Human Strength, written by R.F. Baumeister & J. Tierney. Essentially a self-help book, ‘Willpower’ provides explanations for why humans are doing the things that they do, and why people aren’t always as virtuous as they may be expected to be. Self-control affects many facets of a person’s life, and by looking at how it is presented in psychology, and in Baumeister and Tierney’s novel, Willpower: Rediscovering the Greatest Human Strength, one will see the correlations and differences between modern research and historical perspectives on the idea of self-control, and ultimately decide if the idea of self-control is an inherent trait or a learned condition.

When I succeeded in refraining from biting my nails the first day I was filled with great pride as I knew it was because of my own ability and restraint. This coincides with the idea that I have always had an internal locus of control.
For my field placement, I am supervised by a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), M.V., at a county contracted agency in Los Angeles. Northouse (2012) describes traits as qualities for an individual. Hence, M.V. shares qualities for many traits that define her leadership traits. The first trait that I identified M.V. with having is intelligence, because of her superior language skills and knowledge about the program and agency (Northouse, 2012). Furthermore, M.V.’s intelligence allows her to be well respect at the agency, because of her appropriate decision making and hard work ethic. Staff members and interns respect M.V., because she is always the person to answer questions when they are unsure about specific procedures and policies. Moreover, M.V.’s intelligence allows her to also possess the trait of confidence. Northouse (2012) defines confidence as leaders that feel self-assured and feeling positive about one’s ability to succeed. Since M.V. is often the supervisor many view as a strong leader, her confidence comes from understanding the ability to make the decisive decisions. Furthermore, because of M.V.’s decisive leadership, her confidence allows people to be reluctant to question her decisions at the agency. Another trait M.V. shares is determination, which allows her to be focused and have the drive to complete difficult tasks in a timely manner (Northouse, 2012). Combined with her confidence and intelligence, M.V. is always determined to have perfect client files and notes finished in a timely manner. Based on the test results my locus of control is external. According to our text, Individuals who fall into this category do not believe that their future is within their control. They believe that it is more influenced by external forces. I agree somewhat with this assessment of myself. Although I also feel that some portions of our lives can be influenced greatly by our own inner desires and motivations. My interests are also centered on the outside world. This is consistent with the description at the end of the exercise. I thrive in situations where I can be around and mingle with large groups of people. I grew up in a very large family and this helped to shape my personality. However, I do enjoy quiet time and occasionally working on my own.
There are many different types of learning styles including, visual, aural, multi-modal, and kinesthetic (Welch). People that prefer to learn visually like to see pictures and graphs while someone that is an aural learner needs auditory stimulation like lectures and music. For someone that is a kinesthetic leader, they enjoy the hands on activities in a classroom. This would include building things, role playing, and real life experiences. However, some people prefer two or more learning styles, these people are considered multimodal learners. One goal of ours is to get students to become multimodal learners. We then plan to find a workshop that specializes in teaching professors about different learning styles and how to adjust their teaching methods to be able to get through to students with a variety of learning
From examining the facts within the case study, I believe that Lynn Tilton displayed many if not all of the positive leadership traits. Furthermore, she was highly intelligent and knowledgeable and therefore displayed task competence. The two tests that I have done have pretty much accurately described what kind of learner I am. VARK model states that my dominant learning style is Kinesthetic. Kinesthetic learners learn by doing things physically with hands on experience rather than listening to someone else. I tend to move around a lot when remembering or revising for an exam which helps me express a thought or understand a subject through bodily movement. The most important quality that differentiates a leader from other people is the ability to think strategically. Vision is the most important aspect that drives a leader’s strategy. It is all about where you want to be. Other qualities include Decision making, problem solving, time management, self-motivation, emotional intelligence and many more. Once we know the type of leadership, it is easy to find what leadership skills we have and which we need to develop which is explained in the book “Leadership: Theory, application, skill development (5th ed.) by Lussier and Achua.” Also, Keirsey Style Sorter personality type helps to knowing our temperament type, and work on our weakness and to emerge out as a good leader.
Advantages of someone in learning are not necessarily the same as what they deem as their strengths. If the assessment of a person is more to visual learner, or in other words information is processed best by seeing, the fact that he may feel that the information read is also beneficial to him should not be denied. One of the main purposes of this assessment is to help students who have difficulties in learning by helping them to determine the ways to select the information and translate it into learning strategies and skills to answer questions.

Her extraversion and agreeableness towards her peers and the student athletes earns her special respect. She has the qualities of being approachable and empathetic for issues related to school & personal lives of these students. Then her leadership characteristics include her self-esteem that gets her the dignity she holds at the position she works at and the integrity with which she uses her powers for the betterment of her students and juniors at work.
Each person has his or her own style of learning. Learning styles include visual, auditory, and kinesthetic. In the questionnaire, I learned that I am very much a visual learner. This reflection will show what I have learned about my unique learning style and how understanding learning styles of the children I teach will be helpful as I become a teacher.
In conclusion, auditory learners prefer to learn things visually; they prefer to listen to instructions. Kinesthetic learners rather touch and feel what they are doing. A teacher should evaluate her classroom to see what kind of learners she has in her classroom to be more a more effective teacher. Since in educational psychology there are many branches of psychology that are used to determine learning within the classroom.
