Michael Brecker was a famous American musician and primarily known for his great achievement in Jazz music. He was born on March 29, 1949, and died on January 13, 2007, because of leukemia. In his whole life, he has created many great musical works and hundreds of recordings, such as Madame Toulouse, Bye George and Delta City Blues, which are still popular in today. He has also won many music prizes and was regarded as the leading person of Jazz.
Michael Brecker was born in Pennsylvania, Philadelphia, and grew up in the suburbs of Cheltenham Township. His father was an amateur jazz pianist, and Michael Brecker has touched with Jazz from his father since he was young. At that time, Jazz music was just in the early period of development which had not been seen opposite against rock but a different form of music. The first musical instrument Michael touched with and began to learn was the clarinet. When he started to go to school, he changed to learn alto saxophone and finally decided to learn it for the whole life. Michael Brecker was graduated from Yuqieertengnamu middle school in 1967. From the jazz saxophone, Michael Brecker has grasped the nearly perfect skills, who can make full use of the instrument in his hands with the excellent performance skills. Many later Jazz players want to follow his step and imitate his style. Some musicians comment his music style as the strength of John Coltrane, the rhythm of Sonny Rollins and the harmony of Joe Henderson and Wayne Shorter. In fact, it can see all of these in the music works of Michael. Most importantly, he has broken through the traditional Jazz music and create a new Michael Brecker’s Jazz
