Engine for a heart, Nitrous flowing through my veins What is you’re addiction? Is it sleep? Is it watching movies? Maybe it’s playing video games? For others, the thing they cannot get enough of is speed and horsepower. Many people are born loving cars, it comes natural to many human beings. Car addicts are usually the local mechanics and performance mechanics that aspired to become a mechanic at a young age like many others. Although, this career may not be glamorous, easy, or even high-ranking in regards to income. However challenging, being a mechanic is one of the most rewarding professions one can choose. Courses in high school such as, automotive repair, electronics, computers, mathematic, and also in English provide a good quality background for aspiring automotive service technicians. However, high school graduates often need further training and more hands on experience to become qualified enough to do the job.(BLS.gov) Courses usually include basic mathematics, computers, electronics, and automotive repair. Some programs add classes in customer service, English, and other skills needed to perform the job well. According to David Stava an experienced technician, “It takes years of experience to master each area of certification. However, they also have to be familiar with a growing number of electronic systems. Braking components, transmissions, and steering systems, for example, are by the most part controlled by computers and electronic components. Other important electronic systems, such as accident-avoidance sensors, are becoming well known in the business as well. Also, a growing number of mechanics are required to work on vehicles that run on different types of fuel, such as ethanol and electricity. Service technicians also may use many different tools, including computerized diagnostic tools to check symptoms the computer may have and power tools such as wrenches, lathes, welding torches, and jacks and hoists.(BLS.gov) Most of the tools in this area are owned by their employers. Mechanics also use many common hand tools, such as sockets and ratchets, wrenches, and pliers. These tools are usually owned by service technicians. In fact, many technicians have hundreds, maybe even thousands of dollars invested in the tools that they have to use on a daily basis. For example, some put some money into their own set of power tools—tools, such as impact wrenches—powered by air, compressed air.
