Maya Angelou and Still I Rise is the first documentary about the poet, writer, actress, dancer and civil rights activist Maya Angelou. The documentary describes and shows us the incredible eighty-six years of life of this wonderful woman. Thus, Maya Angelou and Still I Rise is a good biography of a woman who has become one of the most famous and important woman of the 20th century all across United States. This wonderful documentary show us the unbelievable amplitude of her personal life, and all her accomplishment, she carved the Afro-American identity. She was a black girl born in St Louis, but proves to the world she is capable of accomplishing some many things through a century of change. I think the movie does not talk that much about her poesy but she really insist on her passion for the reading, which help her a lot when she was mute in her childhood. Even with the strict institutional racism law that avoid her to read certain books, she was able to read really deeply and she actually became a successful writer. The Documentary presents Maya Angelou’s different careers; it allows us to understand all the different part of her life, happy, sad, challenging..., we see the hard moments when she was a child and got rape in Arkansas or when she was mute in St louis, but we also see the happy glorious moment of her life when her national gallery portrait was being exposed. the documentary reveals her strength and her beauty, and it is something who improved as she got older. We saw all the accomplishment she has done. Even in her eighties she is looking healthy and still full of life. There is so much to tell about that woman, and I think the filmmakers made a wonderful job to include all the important fact of her fascinate life in a two hours
