In our everyday lives we as humans are brought challenging questions that truly make us think. This topic being, are people evil or kind? I believe that by nature human beings are good, and that it is the fault of society that turns them bad. When given the opportunity to live with free choice, people make bad decisions out of anger, being bullied, or confusion. The cruel things people do, unknowingly affect other people’s everyday lives, but as seen through history, people overcome these evil acts. We see examples of perseverance, in history with Martin Luther King Jr., books like A Christmas Carol, and in today’s recent events, where communities come together like they did after the tragic shooting in Florida. The greatest thing about history is that we learn from our mistakes and take good from each situation. Some of those unaware people are those who took part in the school shootings. But rather than letting these people win, communities have come together to support each other. For instance, CSGV, an organization to stop gun violence have made a website to pursue a goal to stop this through a policy development, strategic engagement, and effective advocacy. As once Bill Bethel said, “a successful team is a group with many hands and one mind.” This quotes shows how the power of love from many can do anything with teamwork. This is why people everyday help each other such as when a lady named Carol Suchman bought a whole toy store to donate to homeless kids. This proves that people are kind because if humans were cruel, than why did this lady make such a big act of kindness? The world would always have some “bad” people but we can never forget about the good
