Mariachi Essay

Mariachi, for those people who do not know what it is, is a band. There is nothing (besides the food) more cultural for the mexicans than the Mariachi. It describes us as a culture, and it differs us from many Hispanics. Mariachi is an expression, culture, and a very unique form of music. The songs, describe from love to hate, death, politics, it tells us a story. I remember the first time I entered to my mariachi class, the teacher asked us what instrument did we wanted. I did not know all the instruments, but I chose violin, with no thinking. For me, playing an instrument right is not the same as feeling the instrument and making people feel something when you play.

The oldest Mariachi and the best, is Mariachi Vargas de Tecalitlán. In this blog I want to talk about the history of Mariachi Vargas, its creation, their music, and their members. I find inspiring how throughout the years, this mariachi has not been separated. It is considered the best mariachi in the entire world. In the article “Vargas de Tecalitlan”, the author explains the different generations that have been in this group. Currently there are 5 generations, the last one has existed since 2003.

It has more than 100 years old. This mariachi is really my inspiration because they have put effort on keeping the band and making it better everyday, today , they still give shows to delight people. It was not until later that they added the violin and the trumpet to the group. My dream is to go to one of their concert and experience in person their talent. Being a violin player, I can say that is not easy, and watching all of my friends struggle with their instrument gives me a better idea of the effort mariachi vargas makes as time goes
