Mandatory Military Service Research Paper

While the majority of the population generally think that having American adults ages 18-28 participate in mandatory military service is a violation of our personal rights as Americans; however, I have found through observation, personal experience, and research that it would greatly benefit the US as a whole.
Unity-Mandatory service enables us to become an army of all the people. To have soldiers from rich and poor homes; different religious and secular backgrounds, different shades of skin color. Whether they are disabled or healthy, courageous, or hesitant. Service pushes us all through a mixer. Having people available to fill many jobs related to just the support part of our armed services would mean that we would have a significant lower unemployment rate. (Schill, 2008)
Though many would choose to leave the military after serving the required time, some will have discovered their passion for military service. Choosing instead to turn the military into a career. This may inspire many more people to become long term, and very valuable members of the military.
The military would also offer skills and training in a wide variety of job industries that a person can utilize after the end of their service. Or if they decide to leave they would have educational benefits to fall back on, thus reducing the amount of debt a young person starts their adult life in.
Health- Throughout my time in the military service I observed a few basic requirements that the military had concerning health. Having a daily exercise routine offers several health benefits, both in the military and civilian world. Keeping fit reduces weight gain and obesity.
