Maimonides was a very well rounded, being that he was a renowned philosopher, astronomer, physicians, and a very influential scholar. His works on Jewish law and ethics were admired by many Jews from Spain to Iraq. He was also heavily involved in the Arabic and Islamic sciences as mentioned in much of his work. He was very influential during the time period that he lived in and some of his works are still used today. Maimonides was born in either 1135 or 1138, there is no clear date of when he was born but those two years are acknowledged by many sources as his birth year. He was born in Cordoba, during a time where the Jewish culture dominated the surrounding area. Now it wasn’t much of a surprise when Maimonides got into the sciences surrounding his culture because ever since a young age he had been intrigued by sciences. When looking back at his writings scholars have concluded that he identified and described conditions such as asthma, diabetes, hepatitis, and pneumonia. Scholars also identified that Maimonides had a high regard for a healthy lifestyle and moderation. Being a physician was the profession that h Maimonides kept unit death, Maimonides died 1204. It is thought by many that he was very briefly buried in the courtyard of the synagogue that he had studied at, then his remains were moved to Tiberias, Egypt where he wished to be buried. There are also cases that state he is buried on the western shore of the Sea of Galilee where there is a monument called the Tomb of Maimonides. Maimonides was succeeded by his wife, who's name is still and one of his sons, Avraham, his other son didn’t make it into adulthood.
