Madonna
Madonna was born on August 16, 1958, in the city of Bay City, located in
the state of Michigan. Her real birth name is Madonna Louise Ciccone. However,
most people know her as simply Madonna. She is known as a controversial singer,
actress, dancer, songwriter, and became one of America's biggest and well-
known stars in the late 1980s.
Madonna's assertive behavior, outspoken personality, and aggressive acts
of sexuality, along with her great efforts to push back the borders of the
acceptable, brought her tremendous commercial success in America and abroad.
She achieved the reputation as a forefront performer and entertainer.
Before Madonna began her superstar career, she attended school at the
University of Michigan. Before she even attended college, she was already well
talented in the field of dance. She was so good that she won a dance college
scholarship in high school. This was the main reason she continued onto college.
In the beginning of her college education, she enjoyed going to school on a
daily basis. In addition, she enjoyed learning and meeting new friends.
However, she began to get bored with her college education and her stay in
college was brief. Within the next two years she dropped out of the University
of Michigan and decided to pursue a career elsewhere. She knew that she wanted
to either continue in the field of dance or somewhere in the music industry.
She believed that she had greater opportunities in these careers in a large,
diversified metropolitan city like New York City.
Once in New York City, she joined a band and began writing musical notes,
lyrics, and songs. This was the start of her music career. However, she still
wanted to pursue her dance career. She always had two career objectives in mind
and believed she would definitely achieve one or both of them.
She joined Alvin Alley Theater's third company group. She danced with
them for a short time period, however, she felt she could do better by focusing
her main efforts and ideas in the popular music and film industry.
Her first debut album was called Borderline. In addition to the album
she also produced a short musical video to accompany the album. Her music and
video were featured on MTV, a music television channel found on cable television.

produced in 1992, and the film, A League of Their Own, produced in 1992, were
also part of her movie career. Her latest movie, Evita, in which she stars, was
given some praise in the box office, and is probably considered her best work
yet.
Madonna is currently trying to gain more control of what is being
produced about her. She has entered the management areas of film, record, and
publishing by creating her own company. At present, she is still working on
numerous projects. One of these projects included that of having a baby, which
she just recently completed. One thing is for sure, whatever Madonna does, she
still makes front page headlines. Furthermore, she is still producing videos,
songs, movies, and books that appeal to people world wide. We will definitely
continue to see a lot of her, and her work, in the near future.

You know she's a Jackson. And you know she's a singer. Of course, you know the girl can dance. You know she's a leading lady in Hollywood. And maybe you still think of her as a cute little girl with a famous last name and big , bright eyes. Do you think she's what she was yesterday? Better think again. As many of her other fans and followers already know, the only label that fits her is… Janet.
...ng to this day, she is one of few who could compete with the men of hip-hop, but she never pretended to be anything but a woman. She not only sang about female empowerment, but she wrote about being a woman from the insecurities that we as women sometimes feel to the nirvana of being in love. Sensuality and femininity were always as important to her which was her strength, and message to get out to women especially those of color.
She was known worldwide for many things. She was an American poet, memoirist, and civil rights activist. She published seven autobiographies, three books of essays, several books of poetry. She was credited with a list of plays, movies, and television shows spanning over 50 years. She was and still is a woman that people look up to. Many people know her as Maya Angelou.
Knowing myself, I know that in many of these scenarios I would not have been able to be as strong as these people are, and that I would have given up. Places in the book that show how strong many of these people are include when they first get there and can see babies being thrown into the fire yet keep going, when everyone had numbers tattooed on them, and when Elie’s block was running to the new camp. When the men are separated and sent to the left, the path that they have to take to the barracks leads them past the crematorium. Within the fire pits they are walking towards are children and babies being thrown into the fires to burn (Wiesel 32). Upon seeing this, I would have found a way for me to end my life, just so that I did not have to witness it happening anymore; I definitely would not have been able to handle a situation as such, which proves the people in this camp are stronger mentally than I may ever be.When everyone gets a number tattooed onto them, this is the exact moment that everyone lost their individuality (Wiesel 42). They had their names taken away from them, and they were no longer themselves, but a number. I can not stand the idea of just being a number and not being myself, so for this to happen to me, I probably would have cracked and gone insane. I consider myself to be a pretty tolerant person, but you can not take my name or who I am, and that is what they
Janet Jackson was born in Gary Indiana on May 16, 1966. She is a member of the
Marilyn Monroe, Norma Jeane Mortenson. A devious soul but a pure heart, a black past, but a bright future; she became one of the most idolized figures in society. Norma was definitely not born with a silver spoon in her mouth, and she never sugar coated her life to the media. She was straight forward which made her heavily known for her quotes such as “I learned to walk as a baby and I haven’t had a lesson since.” (Marilyn Monroe). This was the beginning to her life story as a hero. This may not seem inspiring or heroic to many by the lack of knowledge a person may have on Norma. In the depths of her quotes lay a deep, heartfelt life though. For this quote may seem sensational and comical to the ear, but Marilyn was transferred to many foster homes not really having a parent that would show her the way. What a good role model would do though, and what Norma courageously has shown society, is that when life knocks you down, get up and hit life back twice as hard. Norma Jeane Mortenson, married Jim Dougherty, and started working. Soon she created the character Marilyn Monroe, she dyed her hair blonde, wore short dresses, and she became the momentous and inspirational character that everyone saw through television, newspapers, and photos. She was one of the greatest actors, singers, and models of the nineteen forties and fifties. But like every hero they suffer and create their own demise. Jeane, Marilyn Monroe, is a shakespearean tragic hero, because like every hero she must fall.
Marilyn Monroe's career as an actress lasted 16 years. She made many films films, 24 in the first 8 years of her career.
Probably the most celebrated of all actresses, Marilyn Monroe was born Norma Jean Mortenson on June 1, 1926, in Los Angeles General Hospital. Prior to her birth, Marilyn's father bought a motorcycle and headed north to San Francisco, abandoning the family in Los Angeles. Marilyn grew up not knowing for sure who her father really was. Her mother, Gladys, had entered into several relationships, further confusing her daughter as to who it was who fathered her. Afterward, Gladys gave Norma Jean (Marilyn) the name of Baker, a boyfriend she had before Mortenson. Poverty was a constant companion to Gladys and Norma. Gladys, who was extremely attractive and worked for RKO Studios as a film cutter, suffered from mental illness and was in and out of mental institutions for the rest of her life, and because of that Norma Jean spent time in foster homes. When she was nine she was placed in an orphanage where she was to stay for the next two years. Upon being released from the orphanage, she went to yet another foster home. In 1942, at the age of 16, Norma Jean married 21-year-old aircraft plant worker James Dougherty. The marriage only lasted four years, and they divorced in 1946. By this time Marilyn began to model swimsuits and bleached her hair blonde. Various shots made their way into the public eye, where some were eventually seen by RKO Pictures head Howard Hughes. He offered Marilyn a screen test, but an agent suggested that 20th Century-Fox would be the better choice for her, since it was a much bigger and more prestigious studio. She was signed to a contract at $125 per week for a six-month period and that was increased by $25 per week at the end of that time when her contract was lengthened.
Marilyn Monroe Many people said that Marilyn Monroe was a great inspiration in their lives, but through my research, I found out that she was everything but an inspiration. Throughout my report, I will give you many facts about Marilyn’s rough life and what she did to handle them. Marilyn Monroe, AKA Norma Jean Mortenson/Baker, was born at Los Angeles General Hospital at 9:39 am on June 1st, 1926. The hospital in which she was born is now the County University of Southern California Medical Center. Marilyn was born an illegitimate child whose father (Edward Mortenson) had deserted her mother (Gladys Baker).
Wayside Madonna is an oil painting on canvas by Edith Catlin Phelps. It was painted around 1939. Painted in southern California, it is a genre painting that is part of the regionalism movement but also has a religious subject. This painting is currently part of the permanent collection at Bowers Museum in Santa Ana, California. Phelps's oil painting Wayside Madonna ultimately focuses on the lady in the foreground, providing a narrative about southern California culture, and places an emphasis on the need for a more American focus and style of painting that does not rely so heavily on European art.
Britney Spears was born on December 2, 1981. She lived in Kentwood, Louisiana and was constantly performing in front of people and always wanted to be on 'Star Search'. Britney tried out for the New Mickey Mouse Club at age 8 and then again at 11 and made it. Then she went solo because her talent was evident and she wanted more (A & E Television Networks, 2011).
“I can be selfish, Impatient and I can be a little insecure. I make mistakes I am out of control” is a quote by Marilyn Monroe. Marilyn Monroe was born as Norma Jeane Baker on June, 1 1926. Marilyn Monroe had a huge effect on plastic surgery, fashion sense, and make people happy in her career as a entertainer. She was very influential to women. Marilyn Monroe was also a Civil Rights Supporter. Marilyn Monroe had tons of surgery done. She was very insecure about the way she looked as a child. Marilyn Monroe had plastic surgeries done including Rhinoplasty as well chin implant made up of carved Bovine cartilage. (Shah). Marilyn Monroe is said to be one of the quintessential icons of sex appeal, beauty, and also Hollywood Glamour. (Shah.)
When someone mentions Marilyn Monroe, one usually thinks off the seductive all-American sex goddess who captured the world with her woman-childlike charm. Yet not many know her as the illegitimate child who endured a childhood of poverty and misery, sexual abuse, and years in foster home and orphanages. Most people don’t realize that her disrupted loveless childhood may been the main reason to her early death. Norma Jeane Baker’s father, Edward Mortenson, had deserted her mother, Gladys Baker neè Monroe, before she was born on June, 1 1926, in the charity ward of Los Angeles General Hospital. Due to Gladys’ instability and the fact that she was unmarried at the time, Norma Jeane was placed in a foster home. At the age of 7, Norma Jeane lived briefly with her mother. Gladys began to show signs of mental depression, and a year later she was admitted to a rest home. Norma Jeane was then placed with a family friend for a year until being placed in another orphanage for another two years. Norma Jeane was once heard to reflect on this time and say: "The world around me then was kind of grim...I had to learn to pretend in order to...I don’t know.. block the grimness. The whole world seen sort of closed to me..(I felt) on the outside of everything, and all I could do was to dream up any kind of pretend game." (MarilynMonroe,http://www.ionet.net/~jellenc/mmbio3.html) In 1941, Norma Jeane again lived with a family friend when she met Jim Dougherty, who was 5 years older than her.
Mariah Carey was born March 27, 1970 in Huntington, Long Island, New York. Her parents are Alfred Roy Carey and Patricia Carey who was a voice coach and opera singer. Mariah Carey shocked her family when she inherited her mother's vocals so she began singing lessons at age four. Today she is one of the most known artist but is also a film actress, music producer, songwriter, and she has won many awards. The day after she graduated high school she moved to New York City to pursue her music career. She started her career as a backing vocalist for Brenda K. Starr who gave columbia records Mariah’s demo tape at a party thrown by CBS records. The goal was to give the demo to a man named Jimmy Greenberg but it ended up in the hands of the president of Columbia records, after that her career took off.
The Oxford English dictionary defines a diva as "a distinguished female singer" (Oxford University Press, 2014). Both Maria Callas and Madonna fit this definition, despite doubts in their singing ability. They share a dramatic presence, both on and off stage, which distinguishes them from others.
