We all know the United States of America as the country of unlimited dreams and opportunities where everyone can reach his goals and live his dream. A lot of people want to live a better life with better working conditions and a good salary. That is why they are motivated and immigrate to the USA. They want to live the American Dream, but what exactly is the American Dream? For some people, the American Dream is to live freely and equally with all the other citizens of The United States without any discrimination. For others, it is the idea of getting famous and reaching a higher standard of living. He was born in Austria and always had the dream of becoming the best bodybuilder in the world. At the age of 20 his dream came true and he became Mr. Universe, the best-built man on earth. When he moved to the USA he learned English and took business classes because he wanted to earn money with real estates. He worked hard and his dream came true. Additionally, he became an actor in very famous movies. In 2003, he became the Governor of California. Schwarzenegger always stayed focused, worked hard, and achieved his goals. That’s why he is a good example of someone that lives the American Dream. Furthermore, there is free education from kindergarten to 12th grade and lots of different scholarships in America. This shows us that people actually have chances for good education, even if they are poor. On the other hand, the American Dream is not even realizable to American citizens. After high school most of the students want to get a good education and go to college, but the college debt is very expensive and a struggle for some students. America’s society consists of the upper class (3% of the U.S population) to which the really wealthy people belong who earn millions to billions of dollars in income per year, the middle class (40% of the U.S population), the working class (30% of the U.S population), and the lower class (27%) . It is almost impossible to rise from the middle class to the upper class, because at the top of the upper class there is kind of an elite (1% of the U.S population) which has an extreme influence on the politics. The elite and the politicians have a strong relation and tie. The elite supports the election campaigns of the politicians and the politicians help the elite with the taxes. This supports the statement that it is almost impossible to rise from the middle class to the upper class. The classes of the American society influence the chance of getting successful and the American Dream changes based on where you are in life. In my opinion, the American Dream is not something special anymore. With an innovative idea and effort you may get successful anywhere. I’m sure that the American Dream is deader than it is alive because it is so difficult to rise in the American society. The elite in the upper class makes it impossible to change someone’s standard of living just by working hard and staying focused. Hard work may lead to success but it does not have to.
