Everyone has dreamed of going to outer space at some point. We have all daydreamed about it, but now in the real tough and harsh world, is a mars mission really practical? I say yes 100%. The benefits most definitely outway the risks because; mars missions use only a fraction of the federal budget, it creates jobs, and inspire competition for many people. Before you try and make a pretentious remark against my case, let me beat you to it. The most plausible reason in favor of space exploration is this. In “ Leaving Maine Street” by Elfrieda Hiebert, she makes the point that space exploration helps the economy and creates student careers. That of course is good in and of its own, but student jobs are even more in command right now than ever. Four out of five students graduate without a stable income, and an eight month one way journey to mars is about as stable as it gets. Another great point is that It inspires competition. Most kids compete at one time or another, but competing for something you are very passionate about is a game changer. Everyone has had a dance competition or a track meet, but imagine that on a much grander scale. Curious George, the children's cartoon, was relatable for a reason. Curiosity may have killed the cat, but it sent the monkey into space along with it. How bland would life be without knowing what was out there? Not ever discovering what may be hidden within that dark abyss. “ Dark They Were And Golden Eyed” by Ray bradbury explores this.
