The students also received a week vacation after the 8 week program was completed if they passed all classes with a C and had no behavior issues over the summer. There was also an end of the summer program were students performed and had their work on display for their families and the community. The program main goals were the following: 1.) Prepare Students for course work for the 2014-2015 school year 2.) Expose students to community service opportunities 3.) Expose students to a college/ University to learn about admissions 4.) Promote high self-esteem and skills to set and reach goals. The program as a whole was successful because it was evident that students were learning. Each week students were mailed a progress report which showed projects and assignments that were completed for each class. They were also taught in smaller classes and were given additional help from a teacher assistant who were certified teachers. The environment that the students were learning in was open environments were students were comfortable with asking for help. I believe this is the best approach because students are working in a group and not by their own and the teacher is not the only one controlling the learning environment. The teacher is guiding the students by providing the students with tools that will help them improve. As an educator I know that my students are capable to learn concepts and have some knowledge in an area but it is my responsibility to guide them to reach their full potential. As a college access educator my students have the tools to go to college but I provide them with the tools and guidance to direct them through the process. It is important for students to be able to develop their own thoughts about ideas and be able to present them in a social
