Both parties would need to do the following in order to gain momentum for their parties. They would need to get more Latino voters out there registered and make sure that they show up to vote. I believe this could be accomplished by increasing advertising in Latino communities. They should increase their advertising on Spanish radio, TV stations and over the Internet. I would advertise on Univision, NBC Universo and Telemundo.
There is a large majority of Latinos out there who are either misinformed or are afraid to vote. Both parties need to inform the Latino community of the issues at hand and try to persuade them to their side, especially in low-income communities. I also believe that by getting more Latinos nominated and elected into office will help gain the trust and attention of the Latino community. A large part of the Latino population in Texas is young and they need to appeal to the younger generation. Social media would play an important role in this, as the younger generation relies heavily on it and are always connected. They could do this via Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, E-mail, and creating websites to draw users in. Both parties also keep targeting the Latino vote as monolithic; they can’t just categorize all of the Latinos into one category. Each person is unique and each person is going to have a different political value and come from a different political ideology. Having Hilary Clinton on the Democratic side helps them tremendously. A large number of Hispanic voters favor her over any other candidate; especially with her stance on undocumented immigrants.
