5.2.1 Large classroom. Large classroom is an unavoidable reality in most classes of Bangladesh. Interaction between teachers and learners is the main stair in language learning which is hardly managed in our language classroom. There are some other difficulties caused by large classes as Scrivener (2011) pointed out. For example, students and teachers cannot move easily and the seating arrangement and discipline seems to prevent a number of activities in a large classroom. There is limited eye contact from teacher to student or among students. As a result, teacher cannot give attention equally to all students and interaction tends to be restricted Figure 49. It should be a continuous process where the effectiveness of the curriculum is monitored time to time. A system works smoothly if it is kept under check and balance. Likely, curriculum implementation process should also be supervised and analyzed critically by both inside and outside researchers for its own enrichment. In developing countries like Bangladesh, access to English has been a mark for determining the economically advanced people which should be changed immediately. English should be accessible to all and for that we need to invest more. Besides, we need further research on how the curriculum can work in the most effective and cost-effective way to meet the demands. So there are scopes for more detail and extended research in this area to ensure the outcome of the curriculum in Bangladesh and to improve and upgrade it as per time and …show more content…
It is the way we come to terms with the world. It is the way we make our understanding of life concrete. It is the way we make contact with other human beings...As a teacher, we should try to keep hold of the ‘whole’ language rather than being tied up in nitty-gritty atomistic side of language. Don’t only hear mistakes; try to hear the people using the language. Education is too important to be lost amid a constant focus on smaller problems...As teachers, our major contribution to life and to education is to help others find their own way towards their own solutions within their own lives. As a teacher, we are also a learner- learning about language, methodology, people, ourselves, life…Learning teaching is about our personal search for our own answers, rather than merely re-enacting other people’s solutions. In looking for ways to move forward as a teacher, you will also find ways to grow as a person
Sometimes as a teacher we try and do well but sometimes we actually end up hindering. So it is important to understand the child’s perspective so avoid such hindrance. For example, in the novel there is a part when the teacher is reading to the class and Francisco tries to pay attention but since he cannot understand he begins creating his own story to the pictures. Some teachers may take this as sign that he is not paying attention, but in fact he is just in his own way. I think it is also important for teachers to learn the culture and language of the students. This way the student can learn effectively.
I know that as I grow and learn as a teacher my theory on education will change and grow with me. I know that the best thing that I can bring to the table when it comes to being a teacher is the willingness to learn along with my students on what works best for us in our classroom, what is important to us when it comes to learning, and to change what needs to be change in order to have a positive learning environment for my student. The most important thing as a teacher I will bring with me into my classroom is the unwavering desire to help to guide, shape, and above all foster a love of learning in my

Why is education such an essential part of our culture? We, as a society, are extremely materialistic and view education as a ladder to a higher socio-economic plateau, which consists of better job opportunities and a better lifestyle. Education is at the core every career imaginable and, regardless of technological advances, there will always be a need for teachers. Teachers touch lives every day. I am becoming an educator because I feel that I can positively influence the lives of others. I am confident in my ability to interact with others as I look forward to improving students’ lives through education.
I firmly believe that every educator can make an impact in students’ lives. Every student should be allowed to receive the best educational experience. Children from all ages need our most critical attention and we must help build strong foundations in our students’ lives. I believe that every human being is constantly learning, everyone including the teachers. Although Educators may be given the title of “Teacher” and is respected as such, I believe we should be seen as students as well. Teachers learn from their students every day. Students not only learn from the Teachers but also amongst themselves. I strongly believe that a friendly environment where everyone in the room gets a voice, and learn from each other is a great classroom.
Teaching is not a simple task and it is not trouble-free, but I feel it is the most rewarding of all of life’s opportunities. I see teaching as a way of helping an individual expand. That expansion is not limited to knowledge, however. I want to expand a student’s mind, personality, understanding, worldview, and personal drive as well. If I help a student learn to read, that is teaching. If I assist a child in tying his shoe, that is teaching. If I practice with my brother while he works on his touchdown throw, that is teaching. If I make someone a better person, that is teaching in its most immaculate form. By expanding an individual’s ability to have an open mind and to accept people and their differences, I have made them a nobler person. If a student sits in my class all year with the literature and grammar going in one ear and out the other, but she still leaves with a better understanding of herself and a broadened scope of the world around her, I have succeeded in expanding her to some extent.
Overcrowded classrooms lead to the educator not being able to give each learner the adequate attention which they require. Also during lessons not all the learner’s engage/participate.
A major proportion of class time is taken up by teachers talking in front of the classroom(Nunan & Bailey, 2009). No matter what teaching strategies or methods a teacher uses, it is necessary to give directions, explain activities and check students’ understanding (Richards & Schimdt, 1985). This clearly emphasizes the importance of teacher talk in language classrooms. Walsh (2011) claimed that teacher talk is more important in language classroom than any other classroom since in this context the language being used by teacher is not only the means of acquiring new knowledge; it is also the goal of the study.
In a class, for effective learning to take place, there must be a good communication between the students and the teacher. For one to know that learning has taken place there must be a change of behaviour. However this process can be hindered by several factors in a class setting such as students’ behaviour, noise, language barrier and many others. They key hindrance of passage of knowledge from the teacher to the student is students’ behaviour. This the basic attribute that will determine whether a teacher will have an easy time teaching or a very hard time. This paper will look into various ways in which this factor can affect the learning environment and how they can be remedied.
Education is an ever-changing part of society. A classroom teacher is faced with new challenges and obstacles that have never been dealt with before. Students come to the classroom with different life stories. Every student has strengths and weaknesses that surface in the classroom environment. Teachers must understand and focus on utilizing each student's strengths and work to improve weaknesses. Students learn in a variety of ways. The classroom must be a safe zone that appreciates student's viewpoints and allows room for mistakes. When topics in the classroom are related to "real-life" experiences, the information is more likely to be retained. Students learn from one another. The ideas and perspectives that each student brings to the classroom can bring insight into what is being learned. Students have to be allowed to explore new ideas, try them to see if they work, and sometimes fail. When students are encouraged to explore, they begin the process of becoming lifelong learners.
My personal philosophy on teaching is to inspire my students to think and to be objective thinkers. Like life, classrooms are filled with incidents on a daily basis. It 's interesting, as an active participant, to actually experience these moments shared between teachers and students as relationships are built mostly based on personality. As professionals, it 's expected that emotions take the back seat in decision making, but humans think with their heart a lot. A teacher in my estimation is one of the most human
My philosophy on education and learning is simple; to teach my future students to the best of my ability to achieve academic success. As well as getting to know my students well. Getting to know a little of their background can help make a difference in our teaching career. As a teacher, we care for our student’s educational needs and to achieve a full potential in their learning ability. I believe that education is an individual, unique experience for every student who enters a classroom. Having a passion for teaching and providing students with a proper education should always be a teacher’s top priority.
It’s hours upon hours of grading tests, quizzes, essays, and much more. It’s interacting with the students, understanding how students think and learn, and most importantly, knowing how to prepare students for their future, whether it be going straight to college after graduation, to the world of work, or to the military. Being a teacher is caring for kids and students and pushing each child to be the best person he or she can be. ¨… one theme runs consistently throughout every great teacher’s career: their job does not end with the school day… Great teachers motivate, inspire and lead. They interact with their community to affect positive change through their students and themselves. Great teachers change lives,” (“What Does a Teacher
“Teaching is often a difficult process, but the end result is very rewarding. Watching a child develop confidence and seeing a student progress in their studies is a very exciting process. Teaching young children is especially great because it is setting a foundation for life-long learning.”(Chronicle guidance publications). What is teaching? A teacher is a person who provides education for pupils (children), or students (adults) using lectures, audiovisual aids, demonstrations, and computers to present academic, social, and motor skills. Teachers can also teach foreign languages, art, kids with special needs, and P.E. Teaching has changed a lot compared to the traditional methods of just lectures and textbooks. Students now are encouraged to actively learn through groups or individual projects. They have learning games, debates, and experiments to help them through the learning process. Being a teacher would be a great career for anyone who wants to further themselves, to help people, and to have great benefits (chronicle guidance publications).
Being a teacher is not an easy task as many people could think. To be a teacher does not only imply to know the subject to be taught, it also includes being willing to constantly improve oneself integrally, as much as updating the resources and materials one uses in teaching. Reflecting and analyzing over and over again the best way to teach to learn and how to make students to extend what has been learned. The many hours spend in the classroom will never be enough to plan lessons, prepare materials, review pupils tasks and exams, as well, all the administrative requirements one has to cover for whatever institution we work. Besides all this a good teacher, a professional one, will have to find the time to keep preparing to improve oneself.
