3. Kawasaki’s hiring strategy emphasises on diversity in workplace. Workforce diversity refers to variations in workforce composition based on personal and background factors of employees or potential employees. The dimensions of workforce diversity include age, gender, ethnicity, physical and mental ability, sexual orientation, religion, and cultural beliefs. Other dimensions are family status, such as a single parent, a dual-career relationship, or a person with responsibilities for aging parents. To adapt to the new culture and overcome the cultural shock, the expatriate employees requires to adjust their mindset. However, they usually face some special difficulties during the initial stage of social adjustment due to their lack of knowledge about the local norms and rules of behavior important to insiders. Also, the dramatic changes and contrast between the expatriate’s home culture and other country’s culture increase the difficulties for the employees to immerse into the new environment. Especially, the greater the differences between the other country’s culture and the home culture, the harder the adjustment. Some research shows that India, Liberia, and some Southeast Asian countries are especially difficult for U.S. employees due to tremendous cultural differnce. W (Champ, 2011). Although companies usually offer cross-cultural training to smoothen the adjustment, it is always reported to be incomprehensive to cater with real life situation. Also, research has shown that spouses and other family members play key roles in successful expatriate adjustment but they are always not involved in the training
