One of the articles I found that would go nice with my topic is focused on the nonverbal communication bodies give out when you are being abused. The article talks about what certain behaviors and movements to look for in relation to abuse. The author talks about how knowing the nonverbal communication factors are important to see when it comes to therapy for the abused. It also gives tips on how to get better at reading nonverbal communication.
The second article I found is about how to help an abused person without causing the situation to worsen. The author also talks about good and bad responses when you are trying to console an abused victim. There is also a section about what an abuse victim would want you to know

Currently, there are many children whom suffer from emotional, physical, and sexual abuse in their family. Emotional abuse is the lack of interest or affection parents have towards their children. As a result of emotional abuse, children are left feeling worthless and unloved. Physical abuse refers to attacking children resulting visible bodily injuries from either being burned, pushed, punched, slapped, or whipped. Sometimes physical abuse can be extremely severe that children have broken bones, fractures, or hemorrhaging. Sexual abuse occurs when a person forces, tricks, or threatens children to have sexual contact. These acts of child abuse could prevent children from living a normal adulthood. In order to deal with such a traumatic childhood, adults abused as children should rid themselves of such burdensome, painful memories.
My Assessment: This article was precise and to the point. It stated the misconceptions of abuse followed directly by facts. This article can shed light on the many misconceptions that people on the outside looking in may have. I will also utilize this article to show people how to help someone they believe is in an abusive relationship.

Abuse can happen to anyone, at any age, at any time. This is repetitive acts of behavior of wanting to maintain power and have control over someone whether it be through childhood, adolescents, or adulthood. This subject is sensitive as it impacts so many different people around the world. The topic of abuse is not just a family matter, it comes in all forms, such as sexual, emotional, and physical. Abuse is accompanied by the long term emotional tolls, especially on children because their brains are still developing and can take abuse harder than others. At the beginning of the school year, my volunteer project goal was to organize a program about emotional and verbal abuse that would be welcomed into area high schools. I honestly really only took into consideration physical and sexual abuse because those are the types of abuse you really can see and it’s a clear sign of what is going on.
