As ruler, Augustus decided to attack Antony and Cleopatra because he was convinced they wanted to take over Rome (Republic to Empire). After attacking Antony, the Imperial crisis led to the division of the Roman Empire (Mark). After the death of Julius Caesar, Augustus took power and was pressured by the victory of the Battle of Actium to transition Rome to an Empire.
