Pope John Paul the Great sums up love pretty well in this quote. Love is something extremely important in the family unit. Without love there is no family unit, which in turn has effects on the society as a whole. The family is the basic unit of society and within the family there are many important things to understand such as the gift of a child, the marriage, the family as a communion of persons and the general importance of the family. When the man and woman say the vows, the two become one. They become a communion of persons in love. The two agree to have a unitive and procreative marriage. The man and woman agree that they will try, within their power, to have children. Without the procreative aspect of marriage, our society would crumble. Many would not be having children and our population would diminish. In today’s world, the procreative aspect is falling away from the idea of marriage, with the increasing number of abortions and contraception use. Abortion and contraception remove the procreative aspect of marriage. Without the creating of a child, society will cease to exist. Who knows if one of the children who have suffered abortion may be the one to find a cure to cancer, or becomes the one to stop ISIS. Abortion is not a personal choice, it harms the entire society as a whole. It is not a personal decision that does not impact the entire world. One woman choosing to have an abortion impacts everyone, because what if that baby would be the one to end the thousands of deaths every year due to cancer. Abortion and contraception are destroying our society by first starting with the family. When the family gets destroy, the whole society will eventually crumble. When a husband and wife love each other so much, they turn that love into a child. The family is often compared to the trinity. The man and woman are joined together by love, and they take that love and place it into the child. When a child is not born into a loving family, the child experiences a sense of pain and abandonment. The child is missing out on one of the basic human rights. As humans we are all granted the opportunity to come into the world into a family, and when one of the family members is missing it is extremely difficult to overcome that sense of loss. The example all families are given to live by and strive to be like is the Holy Family. The Holy Family is the perfect example of a family, because it is the ultimate example of love. Love is said to be one of the most desired things in life. People long for it, search for it, and crave it. It can come in the form of partners, friends, or just simply family. To some, love is something of a necessity in life, where some would rather turn a cold shoulder to it. Love can be the mixture of passion, need, lust, loyalty, and blood. Love can be extraordinary and breathtaking. Love being held so high can also be dangerous. Love can drive people to numerous mad things with it dangerously so full of craze and passion.
Love is arguably the most powerful emotion possessed by mankind; it is the impalpable bond that allows individuals to connect and understand one another. Pure love is directly related to divinity. Without love, happiness and prosperity become unreachable goals. An individual that possesses all the desired superficial objects in the world stands alone without the presence of love. Countless books and poems have been transcribed to explain the phenomenon of love, but love surpasses all intellectual explanations and discussions. It is rather difficult to speak of love in an original sense today. If someone were to ask an individual to define love, a common response would be, “love cannot be explained, it cannot be defined”. This answer would be acceptable if love was equally felt for and between all people. But anyone would have to agree to the fact that there are different degrees and levels of love. Someone would not love his or her family members the same way they would his or her spouse. Love varies between different levels of action and feeling, and a definition of each level must be discovered in order to understand its varying power. Martin Luther King Jr. felt the need to address this particular issue when discussing the principles behind the non-violent student movement for civil rights. King felt that a working idea of love was the keystone to the philosophy of a non-violent protest. Turning to the Greek language and idea of love, King was able to define three particular levels, eros, philia, and agape. His goal was to take one of these three levels and use it as the definitive quality of the non-violent movement.
Love is having compassion for others, sharing feelings and your life with another person, as well as, having faith in others and forgiving those we love for the any errs that they may make. Most of all, we must be committed to those we love. Of course, this is only my opinion. No matter how long I try to explain what love is ultimately it is up to you, the reader, to define what love is to you. So let me leave you now with the words of the great Humanist Erich Fromm, "Can anything be learned about the art of love, except by practicing it?"
Family may seem like a simple concept, but there is no simple definition of family. In common words, a family is a group of individuals who share a genetic bond. But in other cases family doesn't only have to share a genetic bond because we have some friends that we consider family. People who live together with a special bond which is love is family. Family stands for responsibility, trust, sacrifice and hope. Family don't just share with you just the happy moments but they're with you through thick and thin. They share laughter, sadness, loss, happiness, and success together. Family structure helps to carry their culture to the next generation. The meaning of family changes with the natural and economic conditions. The real meaning of family is a lot more complicated in today’s world. It's no longer easy in our society.
Love by definition is an emotion explored in philosophy, religion, and literature, often as either romantic love, the fraternal love of others, or the love of God based on the definition found in The Encarta Encyclopedia. As I explored the definition by means of the Internet, books, and articles I noticed the definitions changed quite a bit, but yet had the same basic understanding. The definition I found in The Encarta Encyclopedia was probably the most simple and most basic. It refers to love in the whole aspect, which is Godly, fraternal, and romantic. All in which can only be defined by one word and that it love.
When the word “family” is discussed, most people think of mothers, fathers, and other siblings. Some people think of grandparents, aunts, uncles, and even cousins and more on the pedigree tree. Without family in people's lives, they would not be the same people that they grew up to be today and in the future. When people hear the word family they think about, the ones who will help them in any way they can whether it’s money, support, advice, or anything to help them succeed in life. Family will forever be the backbone of support.

There is a powerful feeling in the world that can change a person's way of life and thinking as well as the culture of society. This feeling is love and it is part of what makes life worth living and in the end livable. People tend to find the feeling of love to be either beautiful, painful, or disdainful, but for the most part unexplainable. Meanwhile, some might say that it is just a chemical reaction in the brain that happens to increase the chances of reproduction. Ultimately, love comes in many different forms and each form gives its own meaning to love and worth to human life.
First, we need to know what love is in order to identify it. From a biblical point of view, love is defined as, “love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud (Corinthians 13:4)” It goes on to include that love is not selfish, not disrespectful, it forgives, trusts, hopes, and protects. The Four Loves, written by C.S. Lewis, defines love as a focus on another person and accepting him/her completely for who he/she is. It is the unselfish giving of yourself. Love and other emotions: On the process of feeling, by Jason Brown, defines love as a source of importance and value.

(Schaefer, 2009, p. 288) This leads to a wide open range of interpretation on the exact definition of how a family is truly made up. Depending on your culture, religion, or geographical location a family may represent and be comprised of many different ideals and social norms. There are many theoretical perspectives that have their own interpretations on the subject of what a family is and how it is perceived. I will attempt to expound on three of these perspectives; Functionalism, Conflict, and Interactionalism.
