Majority of the presidents who have served in the history of the United States have had a military experience. John F. Kennedy served in the Navy during World War II. Abraham Lincoln was part of the Black Hawk war as part of the Army. Ronald Reagan served in World War II as part of the U.S. Army Air Corps. This is just to state a few presidents with military background. The president is a high rank in the government and military. However, if put into the wrong hands, what could become of our country? It would be good for a president to have military experience before entering office because it’s better to have experience. Well, think about it. One of the hats the president has to wear is the Commander-In-Chief hat. The Commander-In-Chief hat is where the president is given certain powers to control the military. Although, not all power is given to the president, they are given an enormous amount. A good reason to have military experience is because when a major event is brought up to the United States, whether it’s in the United States, another country, or an international problem, it all comes down to the president’s decision. Instead of having to talk to someone else with experience, they can use prior knowledge. They have an idea of the importance of power they’re given rather than someone inexperienced. I’m just saying how it would be beneficial to all of the residents of the United States if we did have one. Although you may say it’s going a bit far by implementing a law or amendment, but if the United States is in a critical state and needs a fast, immediate response, a president without a military experience may not be able to provide a logical and beneficial resolution. You may turn on me and say, “Well, we have troops. They’ll protect us.” but that is not always the truth. The president could order them to leave us and go to the front lines. This would leave us at risk for others to sneak in and harm the innocent citizens. A president’s job is help make the United States a better place with the help of the Judicial and Legislative Branch. With prior knowledge, a president would know how their main priority should be to protect the people of the United States.
