Now days there is constant disproval coming from people saying that our generation has been poorly influenced and is leading our future generations failure. They complain about how they are always causing so many problems and always getting into trouble. Its very obvious that they are getting into trouble because they have too much free time and they are choosing to waste that time and make bad decisions. Schools that take away the opportunity for sports are no help to this situation. Having students involved in sports have multiple benefits. Students that are involved in sports don’t have so much spare time, so they are less likely to get into trouble. Not only that, but it keeps them active and in shape. Another reason it is good for students to be involved in sports is because it gives them a chance to make new friends and be social. Schools in …show more content…
Exposing students to extra curricular activities in general have many advantages, so lets think about what advantages are found in students participating in sports alone. Students that are involved in sports are usually kept busy enough to hopefully keep their mind busy enough to prevent them from doing things they might later regret. They also have to worry about taking care of themselves. So that shows that sports aren’t on keeping them busy on the field/court, but they are also kept busy when they are away. Some athletes may focus more on things such as how many hours of sleep they get a night, how often and effective they are stretching, what their daily water intake is, how many vitamins they need to have, and surely their mind is focused on the sport if they are preparing for a tournament or a
Playing a school sport enables you to bond with your teammates, making lifelong friends. Sports are fun and thrilling; they help kids get into shape. For years now there have been kids who play sports who also are very good in academics. Sports help kids get organized and teach them to balance their school work with sports. The article to start all the buzz about no sports in high school is written by
First of all high school sports are not beneficial because it puts too much stress on the kids because they want to make their parents happy and want to keep their grades up or if they don’t they could get cut from the team . The pressure from the parents is sometimes too much. According to KCRA.com this statement is important because it highlights that they have to worry about not getting dropped from the team because they have to make sure grades are staying up and then they have to worry about their practice and being a valuable player on the team. According to helpguide.org this could lead to, a lot of stress and that could be bad for the student because they might get health
The benefits of playing competitive sports include self-discipline, control, and confidence. Also not doing drugs, alcohol, and sexual activity. Students who are intensely involved in sports are less likely to abuse drugs or alcohol or join gangs, have a later onset of sexual activity, and do better in school and form good peer relationships. Parents have a
After reading " The Case Against High School Sports" by Amanda Ripley started to make me think. There were many strong points about how the priorities of the sports are beginning to be more important to students than their education. Another great point was that the financing and budgeting is unfairly distributed throughout school districts and is spent more on athletics and clubs and not enough on classes. And I Believe that schools should put certain restrictions on the spending and promoting or in school sports and clubs because of the major drop in national and world comparisons.
For quite sometime sports have been a big part of schools; however, many people think it is time to get rid of them. Studies have shown that athletic activities at schools are starting to get kids to have bad grades because they are so attracted to sports they don’t pay attention to school. Therefore, schools should no longer have sports because it gives students more time to study and pay attention in class, saves money for classroom activities and work, and gives the schools time to repair classes.
School athletics can help to motivate students to become better students. To participate in school athletics, students have to maintain a grade average of a C and can only have a D or F for a week before the student can no longer participate in the athletic activity in school anymore. This rule will cause school athletes to want to keep their grades as high above a C as they can so they can continue playing the sport they enjoy at school. They will also have better grades because unlike students that are not in athletics they will need to become more organized and manage their time better so they can finish school work and participate in their athletic activity without letting one become more time consuming than the other. Participating in their activity of choice can also help them have an outlet to get energy out and relieve stress so they can better focus on the schoolwork they need to finish.
Imagine a world where young teenage kids, who would otherwise be healthy, were fat with high blood pressure was the norm. This would, in effect, leave the world in the hand of generations that are non productive and lazy. This would be the case if schools continue to cut budgets for their sports programs. In the past years schools budgets has been noticeably reduced. As this happens schools often decide to cut sports programs, because they do not believe that sports are essential for students education; this is a major mistake.
Getting rid of sports isn't the answer. Sports are used by students as a way to make friends and to “make a name for themselves”. There are students out there that will give anything to be able to play a sport I don’t doubt the schools would have a lot of upset (specifically high school) football players if football was no longer implemented in school. On top of that, students learn certain life skills that wouldn’t be learned from just sitting behind a desk.
Sports give these students a bigger opportunity to succeed in this world. Sport playing students learn
Many would disagree with me and say that high school sports actually have more benefits than negativities for a student. For example a student in sports would be more active which would make them fitter and healthier. A student that in a team sport would make more friends which would improve their social skills and increase their
When schools promote sports over education, they will fail to prepare the students for future careers. They would miss a lot of class and fall behind. The students would be stay you to midnight doing their homework after getting home from an aesthetic, which some people have to force themselves to do it. They would not have to go by their grades for them to play the sport you want, if the school does not provide the sports. We don't provide for sports we could save money for different class to help them get ready for the job that they want.
Flash Draft “Sports is a metaphor for overcoming obstacles and achieving against great odds” quotes Bill Bradley, a former basketball player, and a New Jersey senator. An issue that has been debated numerous times, is whether competitive sports should be included in schools. Many people are against sports due to injury rates, but it is clear that there are many benefits that outweigh the negatives in terms of importance. Even the professional tennis player Billie Jean King says, “Sports teach you character, it teaches you to play by the rules, it teaches you to know what it feels like to win and lose, it teaches you about life.” I believe that there should be competitive sports in schools because doing sports gives kids a healthier lifestyle, they will learn basic life skills, and the kids will have a better mental health by playing sports.
Organized sports help keep teens out of trouble, give them an opportunity to meet positive influences, provide an opportunity to develop a higher self-esteem, and enables students to set goals. Staying with sports through school helps teens stay on the right track. Students should be interested in their sport and enjoy participating and always should try to have fun!
The feeling of belonging, and having a purpose are acquired. Generally, team sports such as soccer, basketball, football and many more require lots of exercise and fitness abilities. This helps keep students in good shape and healthier all around. Playing an individual sport means one must maintain internal motivation. There is no one else to pick one up when they make a mistake or when they are not doing well. Kids learn how to pick themselves up and also have self-motivation. Individual sports cover a wide variety of students, they do not have to be in excellent shape to participate in all of
Extracurricular activities can benefit students greatly through their personal lives and well being. According to Justin Coulson in his article on kidspot.com, students that are involved in extracurricular activities, such as sports or clubs, are generally healthier than those who do not participate. Extracurricular activities can help raise student’s self esteem and self awareness as stated by Joy Burgess in her article, “Extracurricular School Activities and the Benefits” at more4kids.info. Being involved allows the student to learn about the skills and talents they already have and can teach them new ones such as time management, organization, and prioritizing skills. It also allows the students to realize what they are good at or enjoy doing (Burgess). As similarly described by the College Board staff at collegeboard.org, extracurriculars can enable you to learn your personal talents, interests, ...
