Rough Draft Romeo and Juliet Have you ever thought about dying for someone else? One specific person is at fault for their deaths. It all started with happiness and ended with tragedy. The tragic ending will result from their personalities but from a man called Friar Lawrence. Juliet was foolish and so was Romeo for rushing a wedding so quick and dying for each other.Friar Lawrence is a mature old mad which should have stopped them,they’re both foolish children who do not know what love is or how it works. Not only was Friar Lawrence the brains behind the plan of getting them together after his banishment, he was also the man who agreed to the marriage in the first place. ‘for doting, not loving, pupil mine’ Romeo holds a lot of respect for Friar Lawrence and he is a father figure towards him in the play. Friar Laurence is to blame because he married Romeo and Juliet even though he was not supposed to. He only married them because he thought it would stop the feud, when in reality it made it worse, “For this alliance may so happy prove to turn your households’ rancor to pure love” (2.3. 91-92. Friar knew it was wrong bit married them anyways. If he would have done the right thing, none of this would have happened therefore Romeo and Juliet would still be alive.
Friar Lawrence is responsible for the death of Romeo and Juliet because he kept their relationship a secret. Firstly, Friar Lawrence married Romeo and Juliet “You shall not stay alone Till Holy Church incorporate two in one” (Shakespeare 1042). This evidence shows that the friar did marry Romeo and Juliet. Secondly, the Friar kept the marriage of Romeo and Juliet a secret. “Romeo, there dead, was husband to that Juliet; And she, there dead, that Romeo’s faithful wife” (Shakespeare 1100). The evidence shows that the Friar did keep the marriage secret, until Romeo and Juliet were both dead. Juliet, hearing of her husband’s banishment, is extremely saddened by the news. “That banished, that one word banished,” (Shakespeare 1054). The evidence shows that Juliet becomes saddened and her family does not know she is saddened over Romeo because their marriage is a secret. The Friar should be held accountable for the deaths of Romeo and Juliet, as he played the biggest role in the downfall of the two lovers.
Shakespeare’s tragic play about forbidden, ill-fated love, Romeo and Juliet, by Shakespeare, has several secondary characters whose actions influenced the outcome of the play. Friar Lawrence was one of these characters. This godly man has only noble and good intentions. His first action which affected the outcome was his agreement to marry Romeo and Juliet in hopes of uniting the two feuding houses. Another of Friar Lawrence’s actions which affected the outcome was his plan for Juliet to avert marriage to Count Paris. Both actions were done with honorable intentions, but they also led to the tragic deaths of Romeo and Juliet.

As a member of the Order of St. Francis, a group of wise and generous priests, Romeo and Juliet trusted Friar Laurence completely, turning to him for advice, and solutions. He was there throughout Romeo’s and Juliet's lives; he married them, came up with a plan to keep them together, and was a friend throughout their tragedies. However, Friar Laurence’s rash action in marrying Romeo and Juliet, his shortsighted plan for rescuing Juliet from an unwanted marriage to Paris, and his fear of committing sin all contributed to the deaths of Romeo and Juliet.

The plan was perfect until tragedy occurs, Benvolio had seen Juliet dead and immediately tells Romeo about it. The result is Romeo and Juliet murdering themselves and the play had a tragic ending.
