When I was given the task to write an essay about myself, I panicked thinking “I’ve got to write about myself! I don’t even know what to say!” This thought of mine perfectly proves my personality type; INTP. According to the Keirsey Temperament test, I’m an introverted, intuitive, thinking, and perceiving type of person. These may seem like a couple of broad categories to be in, but they are actually one of sixteen possibilities for a personality. So let’s delve into what exactly an INTP personality is, and subsequently how it can affect how a person lives. “INTPs are philosophical innovators, fascinated by logical analysis, systems, and design.” (Truity.com) Although this statement is an adequate way to describe how an INTP type person thinks, it doesn’t give you the full picture. A lot of INTPs just love to learn for the fun of it, so just being in classes learning stuff is an optimal option. INTPs tend to want to learn more and therefore care less about their actual grade in a class. Another popular career among INTPs in sciences, and not just any sciences but natural sciences, computer sciences, engineering, and law. There is also a list of careers that INTPs will want to avoid for their best interests. Politics is a great example, and even though many of the United States Presidents were INTP, it can be a stressful and boring job that requires a lot of social and public interaction. Any job that requires speaking or working with others, is a bad job for an INTP personality. A job that would be ideal for an INTP is research and studies because it is easy to do work alone and quietly. Another good job for an INTP is a teacher, although they may be annoyed from time to time by the students, they get to choose what they do in a day, and get a whole summer of free time to themselves to work on projects and
