The interactive whiteboard has become a popular technology in recent years because of its potential. Educators are able to meet the learning styles and different intelligences in their class by using this one tool. The use of the interactive whiteboard has inspired teachers to expand and extend their interaction and involvement with their students and the technology itself.
Interactive whiteboards (IWBs) provide a variety of benefits to students. Most of these benefits are in the area of the affective domain (DiGregorio & Sobel-Lojeski, 2010). IWBs tend to improve students’ motivation to perform academic activities. Students usually enjoy the pictures and interactive activities and eagerly await a turn to use the board themselves. As a result, students are often more engaged and attentive when learning via an IWB. Studies have found that using an IWB can improve students’ attitudes towards many subjects, even those they do not like as much (Wall, Higgins, & Smith, 2005).
Interactive whiteboards also provide the students with greater access to digital technology and resources. Via an IWB, an entire class can view a website, complete an interactive activity, watch a movie, or play a game. In effect, IWBs provide a class with access to the world of the internet (Starkman, 2006). This allows learning to be more up-to-date. While using IWBs, students learn how to use the IWB technology as well as how to navigate the web. Using IWBs also makes learning more portable. IWBs make it easy for teachers to make PDFs of in class assignments that can be easily shared with students. This allows students to access class work from anywhere (Genesi, 2009).

The video begins by introducing a revolutionary new possibility in the understanding of what autism is and how to approach those persons afflicted. Through a technique called "facilitated language" many autistic children were seemingly freed from the inability to communicate. Many were able to "speak" freely through a letter keypad with the help of a facilitator or guide. There are stories upon stories of success - of students, teachers, families, etc.
Children with autism have multiple characteristic impairments in their social interaction skills. This results from the lack of “Theory of Mind” in autistic individuals. Autistic children have difficulty interpreting what another person may be thinking or feeling. Social impairments may cause the child to act inappropriately in social interactions and prevent the children from truly taking part in interactions. The children have difficulty recognizing social cues and responding to cues. Autistic children have a hard time forming relationships as a result of these impairments. Social stories, Applied Behavior Analysis, and Pivotal Response Training are three therapy techniques that help children with autism learn appropriate social behavior. Social stories allow the children to practice the situation in a lower stress environment. Applied Behavior Analysis utilizes positive reinforce to teach desired skills. Pivotal Response Training allows the child to learn social skills while in a natural play environment. Learning social skills through these techniques enable the children to have more meaningful relationships and engage more in their community.
The world’s technology advancements are quickly developing, thus, unquestionably, contributing to the extraordinary benefits obtained by students, parents, and educators. Students are provided an enhanced understanding of diverse subjects due to presentations, use of the Internet, and various programs, assisting them with projects, homework, tests, or merely general interest. Classroom computer use is certainly beneficial to parents as well. If a student does not have computer access at home to complete a project or essay, it could easily be completed on the classroom’s computer. This avoids any conflicts that may arise from families that do not have access to a personal computer. Teachers are able to easily compose a multimedia presentation to, not only help teach the class, but also to assist the pupils while taking notes and ensuring their understanding of the topic.

Technology can enhance class communications by offering many different ways to reach parents and students. The interactive whiteboard has made a jump to the classroom and has been able to have just as significant of an impact but for many different reasons. The interactive whiteboard has become a tool to engage students, provide for student involvement in the learning process and has generally made learning more fun for both teacher and student. There are many articles about the use of interactive whiteboards and there have been researchers throughout the world measuring the benefits that these boards are providing to the impact of learning and delivery of knowledge.

Technology within the classroom gives students a better chance to succeed, cuts down costs for both students and teachers, and allows students to be more engaged in class. Technology is an integral part of modern society, and its use in classrooms needs to be promoted so the learning environment is enhanced.

Technology properly used in the classroom has many advantages to a student’s learning. Technology can help students become more involved in their own learning process, which is not seen in the traditional classroom. It allows them to master basic skills at their own rate rather than being left behind.
