Now that you know about the history, it is important to know about the short-term and long-term damage that comes with meth. Using a drug this potent and harmful just doesn’t hurt you short term but will follow you throughout your life. The effects while dealing with short-term meth use is that the person will feel an extreme energy rush. This will make them push their body to new extremes will on this drug. Just like other energy’s boosters, you will always experience a crash and with meth, it is a severe crash. Users can even experience a severe physical or mental breakdown from this crash. These reversible harms can be increased heart rate and blood pressure, damage to blood vessels, strokes, liver, kidney and lung damage also the chance of death. If a person continues to use, they will experience many feelings of hunger along with an extreme case of weight loss. Meth users can have 3 characteristics along with their use. The first one is Psychotic Behavior. To get this behavior, a person will need to use meth heavily and for a long period of time. The psychotic behavior includes hallucinations, confusion, and even paranoia. Users have also reported the feeling of “insects” crawling on and under their body. This causes the user to scratch at their skin so much that they leave scars and scabs on their body. The next characteristic is the physical appearance. This appearance is also known as “meth face.” The appearances include drastic weight loss, open sores, black and rotting teeth, acne and extremely dry skin. They also appear to be much older than what they are. The last Characteristics is behavioral changes. This Characteristic is where the user becomes more aggressive because of the drug.
