Cancer is a well-known, killer disease in the medical field. Cancer is a defective cell that has made its way somehow through our body’s defense system and grows to become actual cancer. Not only is cancer not a single disease, but individual cancers are made up of multiple different clones of cancer cells under selective pressure to become ever more invasive and deadly. There is scientist that are out there who have the cure to cancer but yet they just don't work for the pharmaceutical. Yes, there are a few cancers that can be cured but yet there are many cancers that are still getting found that we have never seen before. For some reason our doctors can not find the cures like the scientist have. Cancer is not a single disease, it seems to be hundreds of diseases. Although there are many common themes in cancer, such as loss of responsiveness to growth signals with a resultant ability to grow unchecked. Some common things of cancer cells include evasion of programmed cell death, inducing the surrounding tissue to provide a blood supply, evading the immune system, and invading the blood or lymphatic systems to travel elsewhere in the body and take up shop in other organs, such as liver, …show more content…

Cancer is often talked about in terms of years in remission rather than cure because there is still the creeping concern that the cancer will one day resurface. But whereas some “old school surgeons” would see potentially suspicious dark scar tissue on a computed tomography scan and say you cannot say cancer is “cured,” Allison maintains if there is no real evidence that a person still has cancer and they have been in remission for 10 years, “for all intents and purposes it is cured.” Despite the progress against cancer, however, it is still the number-two killer in the U.S. after heart disease. Although more people are living or living longer with cancer than in years past, that is still not truly curing
