Have you ever been driving your vehicle on the way to a destination, and reach that destination without remembering every part of the way there? If I were to tell you that you are experiencing a natural, normal form of hypnosis, you would probably think I was giving you inaccurate information. What exactly do you know about hypnosis? Did you know it’s a common, normal way of relaxing? If I could take a guess, there is probably a lot about it that you don’t know or understand. Most people know that hypnosis is when someone is hypnotized or put into a “trance”, right? Hypnosis is one of many ways that therapists can help clients with the problems in their lives.
Hypnosis, also known as hypnotherapy or hypnotic suggestion, is a trance-like state where someone has a very high focus and concentration (Hypnosis). You could compare hypnosis to breathing, it’s been known and experienced by all humans. It’s only the last few decades that we’ve realised that it is an inherent and universal trait (Learn about the History of Hypnosis).

When someone is considering a hypnotist they should learn as much as possible about their therapist. The therapist should be able to analyze a condition, determine if it is an appropriate treatment, and evaluate the results. Some questions that may be asked are; “Do you have training in a field such as psychology, medicine, social work or dentistry?”, “Are you licensed in your specialty in this specific state?”, “Where did you go to school, and where did you get your postgraduate training?” (Hypnosis). The hypnotist will tell the procedure of hypnosis and review what needs to be done, typically talking in a merciful and pleasing tone. They will then start to describe images that create relaxation
