Do you ever just feel like giving up but something made you want to keep going? Or you were just so passionate about something and did everything possible in order to be successful at it? If you can relate or answer these questions with a yes, you’ve demonstrated grit. Grit is passion and perseverance for long-term goals. In other words, working hard at something for a long time. Or maybe you think you don’t have grit? Build it! Grit can be built in many different ways. It can also be shown through many discrete strategies. The way I show it is at school. When a person has a high level of motivation they are more likely to be successful and strive for what they want. You don’t only need motivation from yourself but from other people too. But one thing, never depend on other people to make you happy and successful. Another way that grit is shown is by having hope. When you have hope you push yourself till you get what you want. Confidence is also a way to show grit. The more confidence you have the more you’ll believe in yourself, and push yourself toward your goal. But you need to make sure you have a plan not just a goal. This quote by Antoine de Saint-Exupéry, “A goal without a plan is just a wish” is saying that if your goal doesn’t have a plan, you’re pretty much just wishing for it, you don't have it planned out, you expect everything to just have a plan itself but you need to plan it, you need to be responsible of your goal, and when you desire to accomplish …show more content…

Sometimes I just don’t want to try anymore, I want to give up. There was a period of time where I was sick and wasn’t attending school for about 2 weeks and all my grades dropped. I had a total of 7 Fs. I was 99.9% sure to give up. But, I asked myself, do I really want to give up? Do I not want to make my family proud? Is me giving up right now meaning that i’m also giving up in my future? I was more than sure that that’s not what i wanted and not what my family wanted. I didn’t want to disappoint them or myself. So I didn’t give up. I tried my best, I worked hard, day and night. My family was my motivation. I knew I was able to get my grades up, i knew i shouldn’t give up, I knew i was able to do it. My teachers knew that too and it just gave me more power to have a positive mindset. I proved myself that I could actually do it. I no longer have Fs, my family is proud and i’m proud of myself too.
